Strictly speaking LED/HID lights aren't type approved on cars that weren't originally fitted with such so manufacturers can't claim them 'legal' but for MOT purposes LED are OK as long at the beam pattern/cut offs are within spec.

Hi, had a quick look at the Uniton LED units, are there any problems at MOT time, Phillips suggest suitable for race and rally use only?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi everyone, new to the forum and looking for a C4S. I've been trawling the classifieds for some time and might press the button in the new year. The criteria I have are:
C4S
Manual
Litronic/Xenon lights
Not black, preferably Seal Grey but other colours are considered.
<80K miles
The car will be for high days and holidays not a daily and will be garaged over winter.
I've seen many adverts and good ones seem to be selling quickly I've seen this one but the front bumper/nose doesn't sit right?? Do you think this is just because it needs refitting or the sign of a more serious issue?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-...189081?hash=item2af9e56dd9:g:cQkAAOSwLoZfJTld
I'm mechanically adept so maintenance repair work is OK.
Any info, pointers and suggestions gratefully received.
TIA Mark
I haven't heard back from Admin yet but following the above from Alex where I'm guessing that he 'quoted' you and then deleted the link to the ebay advert it may well be that there is something in 'the system' that prohibits a new member from making a post that includes a link.
This would be understandable as every day there are spammers out there that Register on 911uk and make a first post with links to all sorts of dubious websites!
As the text in your post has been made readable by Alex you should now get some responses to your query.
Hi,
I am just about to put my 2002 C4S up for sale
71,000 miles. Full History (16 stamps in the book)
Manual, Silver with Boxter Red extended leather.
PSE (with recent replacement Top Gear rear boxes), Sports seats, Litronic.
Mine for over 5 years. Recent updates:
Low Temp Therm/ Full suspension refresh (£3k)/Replacement rear boxes/refurbed (powder coat) wheels/RMS replaced/New Clutch 10k miles ago/Short Shift Kit (Alex's one)/ Zunnsport grills to protect radiators.
Based in St Albans M25/M1/A1 junctions.
Let me know if interested.
Just a suggestion, don't worry about litronic, having had a car with and without a set of Philips Uniton LED's (cost around £130) which pop straight in maintain the beam pattern of the halogen headlight and is as bright if not brighter than my litronic car without the additional maintenance and cost of HID bulbs, failing ballast and having to maintain the pretty failure prone headlight washers to pass an MOT. Would be better off looking out for heated seats if you want them or the Bose package as both are very difficult retrofits compared to most other options should you decide you want one of them later.
Hi Paul,
That does sound interesting and what's even better is that I'm in Bucks so not a million miles away. I'm new on here so what's the best way to contact you/ PM? Email? Initially it would be good to see some photos etc.
Thanks
Mark

It's a mute point. Strictly speaking LED/HID lights aren't type approved on cars that weren't originally fitted with such so manufacturers can't claim them 'legal' but for MOT purposes LED are OK as long at the beam pattern/cut offs are within spec. It would take a very 'particular' MOT tester to flag anything up. HIDs are an issue as they have a requirement for headlight washing and auto levelling AFAIK.
