Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Having now bought the recaro PP ABE I'm looking to dull down or remove the obnoxious large white recaro logo from the headrest. I'd rather not go to the expense of retrimming the brand new seats I've just bought so looking into options. Found a thread on here about someone who had dulled it down with something (dye/boot polish!?) but not sure how it was done (have PMd but not sure my PMs are working to tbh as they aren't in the sent box!?) Also searched online and a toothbrush and lubricant also seems another option. Either way a bit nervous about ruining my expensive new seats so anyone solved this problem before I attempt?

POST 2Original post

Is it printed on or is it stitched with white thread? If stitched you can use a black Sharpie to dye the thread. A guy on P'heads used a red one to change the colour of the stitching on his Ferrari seats. Scroll to the bottom of this page. - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1419350&i=420 If it's printed on, then that's harder to cover with something. It could easily turn into a right dogs dinner.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes should have said it's printed. They are the ABE leatherette and suede ones.

POST 4Original post

Ah right. In that case....good luck. You could try and get a local vinyl graphics place to make you some stick on templates that surround the letters. Then spray matt black paint on and remove. Tricky though. Quite a faff I'd imagine.

POST 5Original post

scary as crap but it seems its doable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T93U2d80k0A

POST 6Original post

Have done this before with a black indelible marker. However it fades. Some permanent black dye and a toothbrush to apply would probably work fine. Just wipe any excess off the vinyl part.
