Suggestion

RPM Technik also make there own but Ian's use the factory runners to get the OEM look so that seemed better to me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im looking at seat mounts. For 996 there seems to be 3 Recaro Pole position options. I just wonder why people choose what they do? Aluminium ABE 1.1kg Steel ABE 2.6kg Steel FIA 3.1kg Apart from the obvious reason to choose FIA if you want to build a race car. Why would anyone choose the steel ABE one? The price is more or less the same from what I can see. I want the lightest one, but I do want it to be black. So I'll maybe buy the silver one and powder coat it. Am I missing something?

POST 3Original post

I've just been through this same choice for my pole positions. Having researched it to death it became apparent the recaro side mounts sit the seat higher than the standard sports seats. I wanted lower so went for Ian from this very forums own custom side mounts. RPM Technik also make there own but Ian's use the factory runners to get the OEM look so that seemed better to me. Hope that helps

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for that, I'm not that tall to be honest 5'8" so being a bit higher isn't a massive issue. But I do want a quality piece of kit, in black that's light. Ideally i'd like to adjust the seat a little. Who is this mysterious Ian?

POST 5Original post

Hi! I made the mounts that i have ran in my car for 4 years and 12k, I have an extra set that is on the way to Jay at the minute. You would need a set of OE seat runners to fit them, which would mean removing them from a seat and leaves the seat un-fit-able.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
