Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I waited while the kids could get in and out themselves before changing from my Audi and very glad that I did too!!

Hi there :bye:
Couple of years ago thought about getting a 996 but ended up buying a M3 which has been great; practical(have 2 young kids)reliable, fast...However, now that 996 prices have come down I'm thinking about the 996 again. How are the rear seats? Small kids only? Do booster seats fit or do you need those expensive Porsche ones! Had a 928 a few years ago and i remember the rear seats were pathetic, only had lap belts, couldn't get a child seat in...
I'm looking at about 15k. I've been looking and there are a few. Are there any things I should be particularly wary of at this price?
Thanks for any advise
Same as me!
I am also looking for a 996 and I need to find out whether a booster will fit in the back. Looking to get my hands on a sub £16k car.
Have you driven any yet?
Mac
Hi Yes you can get booster seats to go in the back either just the seat base and or full unit, if you do a search there are a few threads about this.
Porsche do tequipment ones too.

Well it should be no problem at all. I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old and I have two standard M&P car seats at the back and its great the kids love it.
Of course the space is limited (especially behind the driver if you are 6'+ and like to seat back) but once my wife tried the back seat and it was ok.
Have a look at my original pictures (I know its a 997 rather than 996 but the space is identical)

im 26, have no kids (or wife yet!) and live in central London (fulham)
I find the rear seat invaluable, for luggage, carrying stuff (a large chair for my girlfreinds holiday house in norfolk), and loads of friends around town (short journeys)
the space in the back has had everyone from 6'2" mates to groups of girls to large adults (not height wise!) and anyone can fit, fullu grown!
highly recommended!
i even took a freind down to wilts in the back last weekend, 100 miles, 6'1", no complaints!
My 9 and 0 years fit in very snugly. In fact they like it better than a conventional seat because they are tucked in on both sides. The 5 year old does need a booster though otherwise the belt cuts off the blood circulation to his head!
My 2 are taller than average but fit in fine they are 5 & 8 once you get out of the booster seat you then get then tucked back down for a while which helps, however I think there is the next problem which is that they are needing some sort of head rest. When I look at them in the back with nothing supporting the neck and shoulders it does look very exposed. If you've ever had whiplash even at 30mph it can do a lot of damage to a young neck- I speak from experience!
Maybe something that needs the collective ideas of this forum to come up with a solution? or has it been solved already
BTW great car , get one javascript:emoticon(':thumb:')
cheers

... on the other hand I have three kids, whilst the rear is OK for the 11 & 8 year old the 13 year old does not have enough head room. I have been in the back and find it claustrophobic as although I am 5' 7" the rear glass prevents full upright position of the head without restricting movement. Two other things to consider: 1. getting in and out to the rear is a pig, 2. there is not much survival space for rear occupants should you be unfortunate enough to be hit hard from the rear. I would not recommend swapping the M3 for a 996 if this is to be your main family transport, I would swap if it is a second car. No, I've changed my mind, I would swap anyway, screw the kids comfort & possible safety (plus you will get 28mpg instead of 20mpg!!)
2 kids in a 996 will surely lead to a slipped disc if not from moving them in and out of the seats then probably whilst fishing toys or half eaten food out from under your seats. I waited while the kids could get in and out themselves before changing from my Audi and very glad that I did too!! Where does a pram go in a 911?
