Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have been hearing a faint clicking noise from the rear of the car ... It happens when you drive away from standing still or coming to a stop ... Also it doesn't happen every time. it almost reminds me of when my CV boots were bad on my old Acura. At first, I thought it was the joint of the axle clicking together when it is engaging .. but then again, the car only has about 2k miles on it. Any thoughts guys?

POST 2Original post

Look at Clicking Sound from Rear under Cayman Tech. I had to go back and look it up. Going to take mine in for service and wanted to show thread the tech.

POST 3Original post

I already read those articles ... my sound doesnt sound like a card in a bycicle wheel .. its only one click, then stops ...

POST 5Original post

I had the click problem before but only during cold start. It turned out to be something loose with the oil filter cap. Apparently very easy to fix according to the mechanic once you know where to look.

POST 8Original post

I almost sounds like it comes from the suspension ...

POST 9Original post

No from the engine. But all the posts I've read, I wonder if I am just" looking for problems" and non exist.

POST 10Original post

did you ever solve the problem Did you solve the noise problem? I have a knocking sound that sounds like a lifter.

POST 11Original post

Been thinking about this. Going to Scottsdale next Sunday and thought that I would call the dealer and if still concerned take in for the oil change and inspection. I do a lot of high speed, long distant driving and hear it in 3-4 gear. It may be a normal sound and your sitting on the engine but think I will go for a ride with the service person just to make sure. All other systems appear normal. My mother had a beautiful Karman Gia (excuse the spelling) back in '65 and it sounded similar.

POST 12Original post

My concern is a clicking at idle after 40 or 50 miles. It sounds like a lifter problem. However, I remember a thread that had somerthing to do with the oil filter attachment ring ,,or?? Sorry about vague description.. Due for service in 19days.

POST 13Original post

Yes I read the same thread. I will go to the archives and see if I can locate it. Believe it was under Cayman Complaints. I believe it was a mal-function of a valve. Wasn't closing properly? Don't laugh, your talking to a grandmother here! But the sound is sure like what we called lifters back in the old days.
