There are a multiple of desiccants that can be bought and use but I've been told that rice works well.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My car got rained on. Fortunately my sheepskin seat covers caught most of the rain, though the floors were sopping wet. Everything seemed fine, except the audio. The head unit seems to operate properly but there is no sound output. Fuses are all fine. Would it be right to assume that the Bose amp, under the passenger seat, is likely the problem? Can it be repaired or would a used one be a better option? I'm guessing an aftermarket option that is plug 'n play is lots of $$$$. thanks!

POST 2Original post

In a word; Yep! since your floors got soaked and the amp in "under" the seat it is most likely flooded. However, you may be able to salvage it but you need to start ASAP. Pull the amp out right away. Open it if possible and drain all water out. Use an air compressor to to blow all damp areas. At that point I would let it dry out for several days. There are a multiple of desiccants that can be bought and use but I've been told that rice works well. Now that it is dry you have some time so don't rush to reassemble. When it looks to be totally free of water and DRY then reassemble and put it back in the car. You might get lucky and all will be well. Good Luck!
