I had the Oettle fitted today, excellent value for money with a big grin factor.

Suspected cause

I've been following the various sports exhaust threads with great interest and conclude that the PSE with its quiet option is probably the best but the most expensive because of its 'quiet' mode capability and the wiring etc.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What is the likely cost of adding a sports exhaust?

POST 2Original post

wqe did group buy from OPC Colchester late last year. £1450 for 996. Call colchester and ask for MIke stebbings, cheers http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=38536&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=group+buy

POST 6Original post

I paid about £550 for an Agency Power system (better exhcahnge rate then) and that included fitting. Still the best money I have spent on the car and I recommend it fully. Another sensible price option at the time was Haywood and Scott.

POST 7Original post

Oettle sports exhausts are great value, circa £450 on ebay or online, depends on euro, comes in three days from germany sounds amazing

POST 8Original post

this. You can also fit them yourself and I posted some details on a thread about how to do it.

POST 9Original post

I had the Oettle sports exhausts from Germany fitted earlier this week and agree it sounds absolutely fantastic and cost £405 as I purchased before they put their prices up. The OPC fitter stated that it sounds better than the official sports exhaust. There is not alot of difference at idle but after about 2500 rpm it sounds fantastic. The only downside is that I keep opening my window and give it a bit of welly that my MPG has gone from 26 to 22 but well worth it. Ian.

POST 10Original post

The Porscheshop :worship: will sell you a complete C2/4 System from matched manifolds, high flow cats, and sports mufflers all in stainless steel for £1758.33 including VAT. I had one of these systems fitted to my Carrera 2 and the sound inprovement was striking but so was the performance uplift and fuel economy improvement. The Porsche after market "switcheable system" improves sound but adds little to performance/economy. The Porschshop also are very competitive on fitting charges if you purchase from them. POST 11Original post

I had the Oettle fitted today, excellent value for money with a big grin factor. Other than video, I've never heard a PSE but understand this mod is quite similar, if so, then it makes even more sense.

POST 12Original post

There are so many threads relating to sports exhausts on this forum, which can only be a good thing. I will post some pictures of the merchandise fraserb mentions. These exhaust systems are expensive and, as such, are quality items manufactured by Eisenmann of Stuttgart. The company can be found on the web. There is also some electrical circuitry, relay, loom and a vacuum control solenoid, reservoir, vac line that goes with it. I have a PSE (Porsche Sports Exhaust) fitted to my C4S and describe the exhaust note as a deep, fairly loud note. The one thing the PSE can do (suitably wired) that none of the aforementioned systems can do is, at the touch of a button on the dashboard, be switched to quiet mode. The by-pass pipes are isolated by butterfly valves operated by introducing vacuum to the acuators. There is an automatic quiet zone between 30 and 50 mph (approx) which can be overridden with a simple modification involving a wire disconnection from a relay which allows loud mode at any speed. Most people will say "I would never have mine switched to quiet mode as it sounds too good as it is" which is true, but there is the odd occasion when I prefer mine to be quiet. Whatever the reason... No matter how light I am with the throttle when manoeuvring, my PSE is still quite loud. The pictures are genuine PSE mufflers, shown with valves, actuators and vacuum lines - now fitted to my C4S. Sorry for the long post - but I hope it illustrates what the PSE is about.

POST 14Original post

PSE et al I've been following the various sports exhaust threads with great interest and conclude that the PSE with its quiet option is probably the best but the most expensive because of its 'quiet' mode capability and the wiring etc. However, the Oettle seems to give an equally good sports sound and appears good VFM, but what is it like cruising at 80 plus. I travel to the south of France a couple of times each year via the autoroutes. Is it too boomy and tiring whilst cruising for up to 3 hrs at a time? Also, in this country are the noise levels legal for MOT ? Cheers Winco

POST 15Original post

Yes there is a decibel standard for the MOT - but I dont know the level. I think I would prefer a full exhaust system change that gives, noise, performance and improved fuel economy. Regards Big Bob :bye:
