This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Has anyone had this issue? I’ll just be sitting in my house and my car alarm will go off out of nowhere. Has been happening almost every day for the past few weeks. I have two suspicions, one would be something is wrong with my key fob but I doubt it as the range wouldn’t reach. Second would be my radar detector that stays plugged in and on through the cigarette lighter. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if it may be some module that needs replacing. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

It happened to my 2007 CS a few times in the run up to my battery dying. The alarm went off randomly in the parking lot of a PCA event I attended. A couple of the other attendees told me it could be the sign of a low battery. I’m not sure if they were correct but the battery was pretty much completely dead a week or so later.

POST 3Original post

Hmm thanks for the tip, I’ll bring it by to get the CCA checked. Did you drive the car regularly or would it sit?

POST 4Original post

I would drive the vehicle only once or twice a week. The battery was 7 years old, so at the end of its life.

POST 5Original post

Two things.....I'm not sure how long you've been leaving your radar detector plugged in (and your from Virginia where they're illegal, lol) but my information is that that could drain a battery unless the cigarette lighter turns off after a while. In the 987 it stays hot and doesn't turn off at all. I understand it turns off after a short time in newer cars. The second thing I recall many years ago on this forum, there was a guy whose connected garage was on the other side of his kitchen wall. His microwave, every time he used it, would set off his alarm. Took him some time to figure that out but once he did he was able to stop it from happening by either moving the microwave or not alarming his car while it was in the garage, not sure which. Probably no help but....
