I got the train back to London and it turned out to be incredibly fast to Paddington via Reading.

suspension kit for around £540..can do without the cost right now but their recommended spring kit (eibach) is £240 anyway...

Better IMHO, Are you looking to replace the whole lot?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys
having just found out that that my drivers side suspension spring has broken in two i need to buy some, however they are lowered springs and were on the car when i bought it. No paper work to tell me how low they are but have a feeling they are -30mm maybe my profile pics might help...anyways..what springs can anyone recommend?
thanks guys
peter
ps. theers a set on ebay but it says there for a 996 c4 cabrio..would they not be ok for a 996 c2 coupe?
Porsche springs should have coloured dots painted on the spring coils to identify them. If you get them from the good spring, you should be able to identify exactly what it is.
Sorry to here about your troubles.
Try contacting the previous ower he/she may be glad to talk.It is likely that they were purchased from a poular vendor.
Important that these are matched to the rear. Geo can be an issue here.Lowering a car affects camber.
It is also vital that the legs are working and that the spring rate and struts are in harmony with each other.Hence the spring snapping.
Do you have lower profile tyres than STD?
Regards the springs you mentioned on ebay, I would stick with ones intended for a carrera 2 IMO, as the standard spring rates (and would expect damping rates) will be different between a C2 and C4 due to the extra weight at the front of the C4 due to the 4WD system. C4 springs fitted on a C2 i would expect would result in a slight 'speedboat' stance with a higher front end and bouncy handling. I could be completely wrong as I've not tried it, but just thinking through the physics, it's what I would expect.
Better IMHO, Are you looking to replace the whole lot? I have my old C2 set sat in the garage since fitting the KW's, probably done about 10k miles if that. :?:
Not sure I'd want to replace a spring that broke with the same again......

Peter Winter,
with all the issues you are ecountering it may be wise to have the whole car looked at to find what,if anything else, will or does require attention.
Looking at some of your Previous posts there seems to be a bit to go at already.
Maybe it may be wise to get the full picture so you can plan and priorotize the current any further work.
Hpoefully there is nothing more lurking.
Just an opinion.
hi adeymars
tell me about it buddy... :?
got the car in october and had to have a load of wiring stuff done as there was a battery drain (clifford alarm removed, speed angel wiring removed, hands free tax disc aerial removed) an awful stereo install sorted out. oxygen sensors then went, flat battery, driver side radiator, coolant tank cracked, now she seems to heat up way to quick, and found out today the driverside spring is in two parts...also found half of the undertray missing...oh and rms has been leaking a while... :nooo: what can i say mate....been out of work since november too with all this credit crisis going on...but...........it could be worse...im gonna aquire all the parts i need then bring her to autofarm or whoever won the top poll position for best indy, which i saw on here not long ago...worst part is that jaz of wembley did most of the above and i think their great but probably not far of an opc in terms of prices and they checked the car in december and said she was fine...guess these things can go anytime so not their fault but i will try someone else next...
Sorry to hear about your woes. If you want the work done at a competitive price try Wrightune in Wallingford :worship: . They did my RMS and clutch very competitively 8) . I got the train back to London and it turned out to be incredibly fast to Paddington via Reading.
So get yourself a very experienced and capable mechanic at rock bottom prices and save yourself a packet
