Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

But, on the bright side, after they fixed/repaired/replaced the stuff I wanted changed, I said no thanks to the warranty and invisibly leaking RMS etc that they wanted to change and put the saved £4,000 (two year warranty on table) into my "mods" and "insure myself" fund!

A 111 point check (not sure what the 112th check is - perhaps that your payment cleared!) - should find almost everything as this is the check prior to OPC warrantying car or prepping approved used car.
Leading evidence: 'Repair /' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check (not sure what the 112th' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

OPC have said they do a 112 point check has part of a PPI for £210 incl vat, would this be sufficient to cover all the bases or would i need a more thorough check.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Chaps, New to this forum and about to get my first porsche. I am testing this 996 carrera S tiptronic tomorrow and was wandering if anyone on this forum has seen it before or heard anything about it.
If i go ahead with the purchase i'll get a PPI from OPC chester before parting with the cash. OPC have said they do a 112 point check has part of a PPI for £210 incl vat, would this be sufficient to cover all the bases or would i need a more thorough check.
Apart from knowing it is a 1998 996 carrera S tip, would this be a 2 or 4 wheels drive, and the alloys look like turbo one's, these aren't correct to the car are they?
Anyone else notice anything that doesn't fit with the model or year? I
I just want to cover everything before i drive it because i'll get my rose tinted specs on and buy it just on performance. :?:

The (997) Turbo wheels are not part of the original spec nor available options at the time as it took 6 or 7 more years for Porsche to bring out that design.
bit pricey for an early 996 let alone a tiptronic S,not a great interior colour combo either
and sorry but those wheels look chavvy on the 996
btw welcome and it will be 2wd
I had an OPC do an 111 point check for me recently and wouldn't recommend it as I was very disappointed by how little it covered. I would say that an OPC check is certainly better than nothing at all but that an independent check would be far more comprehensive. There are lots of threads on this site already dealing with this and there are indies in the Cheshire area that are well regarded.
good luck
David
I had an OPC do an 111 point check for me recently and wouldn't recommend it as I was very disappointed by how much they found
Kinda wish they had done it more slapdash, would have saved me some money.
I guess it depends on the OPC or how close to budget they are running when you walk through the door.

(oops, the mods have had the lions share so far
)
We shall see if that philosophy pays off or not over the next 18 months when the said 24 month warranty would have run 'til.
Firstly, thanks for all the replies.
It is an 111 point check not 112 as i wrote, maybe the other one is when they tell you its knackered.
The price is what they want not what i will pay, i reckon it's worth at least a grand less. Full main dealer porsche history (last service in January), 4 owners 3 same family.
The wheels i agree look bad thats why i asked about there origin, how much are they worth?
The interior's in most porsche's are at best tasteless, but the grey doesn't look too bad, i'd prefer black.
Any other comments greatly received as this maybe my first porsche.
Hi Andy
I tend to agree with the others here. 61k aint bad miles but the car does not have high spec and I reckon it at about 14-15k max IMO But if you love it and it checks out, then what does it matter, but bargain hard.
