SOLVED - GPS Antenna Connector - Wiring Harness Side
My windshield was replaced and the GPS antenna connector was damaged. One of the little parts that makes up the ground contact on the outside was broken off. I can get it to connect but from time to time it seems to work itself loose and loses the connection. I've tried simple things like tape to hold it in place, but nothing seems like a long term solution.
I reached out to Porsche and they tell me that connector is not available outside of purchasing that whole part of the wiring harness.
Does anyone know if it is shared with other aftermarket gps antennas, or if there is a component piece available from someone like digikey?
we have hot clued it once to a customers car. he has come back a few times for oil changes .. but its still on there..

Yes and I have found these pigtail connectors. What’s unusual about the ones in our cars is the right angle orientation. These swivel so It should be fine.
I think the new connector will snap in on the GPS unit side and I can manage to get a good signal and tape the damaged connector to the male end. Will report back once I’ve received the cable and experimented.

SUCCESS!
Just to follow up on this, the windshield and bodywork on my car has been completed and I was able to use the pigtail to restore the
GPS
functionality.
This time the glass installer completely broke the plastic housing on the original connector... I was worried that the wire might have been pulled so hard it was damaged inside, but that turned out not to be the case. But in any event, there was no way the original female end was going to go into the antenna and stay there long term.
The pigtail worked great! Its female end snapped onto the antenna firmly and the male end came out far enough to be easy to reach and work with.
The old connector went into the pigtail well enough and I was able to confirm that it did provide a signal to the navigation unit (it no longer thought I was driving out to sea).
Finally I taped it together and am confident it will stay connected since there is no stress on the fragile broken connector going into the pigtail.
Thanks for the replies on this thread and hopefully this information might help someone else in a similar situation.
