Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Dare I suggest an interim oil change or annual check for a couple of hundred (or less at non-OPC)?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seen it advertised as 12k, 24k 48k 96k. Presumably its also done on time aswell as mileage. Any advise appreciated. :worship:

POST 2Original post

Hi, yes 12 months or 12K miles which ever is the soonest, every alternate 12K service is generally a major one (24, 48, 72 etc...) As a rule budget about £2.5K for servicing / general running costs per annum this covers items such as tyres, brakes, clutch as well as servicing & MOT etc depending how old your car is. There are some good indy warranties that chuck a service and MOT into their scheme as well, so you can probably save a few quid that way. - Simon

POST 4Original post

From MY2004 it is every 2 years, not 12 monthly.

POST 5Original post

What about us garage queen owners with 3k per year? are you saying still service every 12 months?

POST 6Original post

@Disco - Service intervals went out to 2 years from MY03 IIRC @ BarrieJames - I'm sure some one will advise why - but the handbook says every 12 months or 12K miles for MY before 03 - Simon

POST 7Original post

Thanks for that. My take is I have a ten year old 996 that lives inside and does 3k dry miles per year. If I extend the service intervals to 2yrs is that going to make a difference if I ever need to sell it?

POST 8Original post

Barrie, I'm sure it will be fine but a cynical purchaser (should you ever sell it) would point out that the service history has not been kept upto date and drive down the value of your car IMHO - Simon

POST 9Original post

Dare I suggest an interim oil change or annual check for a couple of hundred (or less at non-OPC)? Not much in the grand scheme of things and you get a courtesy Boxster etc to thrash for a day (if that's your thing), a free wash, a stamp in your book and possibly some nice new oil. Plus they will check if anything is untoward - two years is a long time between vehicle checks.
