The only thing "electronic-ie" I've done with the car is to replace the battery three years ago, and when it's garaged through the Upstate NY winter I have a small Schumacher charger on it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

2007 S with standard sound system (CDR-24). This started a year or so ago- every time I open the door, after a few seconds I get a very loud "fart" from the speakers. It's loud enough that it scares you even though you know it's coming. It lasts only a second, then there's another one a few seconds later. Nothing after that until the next time I get back in. If I make multiple stops on a trip it happens each time I get back in the car. Happens even with the radio off! It's a quick, loud, muffled, bass-ie blast. Almost sounds like a static discharge, but it's low and muffie. The only thing "electronic-ie" I've done with the car is to replace the battery three years ago, and when it's garaged through the Upstate NY winter I have a small Schumacher charger on it. Anyone else have something like this?

POST 2Original post

Maybe a loose connection somewhere shorting out?

POST 3Original post

Since it happens when you open or close the door - sounds like the speaker wire in the harness has worn through the insulation and is causing a short against the body. It might even be a few more wires like the power windows. I'd start looking near the hinge and other pivot points.

POST 4Original post

I guess you have the Option Code 490 Sound System Plus external amplifier. This is known to fail, either to become completely silent, or to make a horribly loud rumbling/farting sound in the door bass speakers. However, do not despair, the amplifier can be fixed at a very reasonable price compared to buying a new from Porsche. (which by the way probably has the same inherent faults) See here for details: https://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php/services.html Cheers, Tore

Damn. That sounds like a pretty cool option. Wish mine did that, LOL. I guess some of us, no matter how old, are still a 12 year old boy at heart.:hilarious:
