Suggestion
The PCM and M.O.S.T system does not have a convention neg trigger mute, and because the audio signal is carried on fibreoptics to the amp no interface is available, the standard Parrot mute interface could be hardwired between the amp and front dash speakers but this would invalidate the warranty., there is an interface to do the same without affecting the warranty but that would have been an additional charge of about £40+...the Tooki,Mobridge or Dension BT1500 are the options to get a mute and audio through the vehicle speakers, however you will need to check software compatability with your handset, do not assume because it has Bluetooth it will work...check the handset compatability fir

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys
I recently had a Parrot 6100 fitted to my 04 996TT by my local Porsche Dealer. When i got the car back i was disappointed that the sound came through a seperate speaker and the radio did not mute  .
I spoke to the dealer and they advised this was the only way to provide bluetooth on this model as the correct method was the sim card slot. Hoever they did discuss the issue with Porsche Technical dept who advised a possible solution to the mute :? . They have now tried this to no avail :frustrated: . They say they cannot do any more without affecting warranty (only bought in December)
So, for all you smart cookies out there firstly:
Can i improve the integration of my current bluetooth kit (Preferred solution)
Has anyone any experience of the Tooki package for this car, it seems to be the answer to all woes of phone integration on the PCM2 .....is the hype too good to be true!
Thanks in anticipation of your help
Ian
hi, been considering this issue for a while - the sim card slot idea is so rubbish! but £500 odd! i'm almost going for the complete switch idea and replacing the whole system for a kenwood, pioneer or similar system with dvd, ipod, bluetooth, decent postcode nav for little more?? keep the original pcm and replace when sell the car? anyone got any suggestions?
cheers
Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion but i'm trying to ascertain if anyone has fitted the Tooki or a mObridge to the car as they sound like they overcome the problem of how to patch a bluetooth kit into the PCM2 and get the auto mute function and phone sound through the car speakers even with the BOSE kit fitted.
Anyone any experience of these? or overcoming the problems noted above with the parrot 6100?
Thanks
Ian
The PCM and M.O.S.T system does not have a convention neg trigger mute, and because the audio signal is carried on fibreoptics to the amp no interface is available, the standard Parrot mute interface could be hardwired between the amp and front dash speakers but this would invalidate the warranty., there is an interface to do the same without affecting the warranty but that would have been an additional charge of about £40+...the Tooki,Mobridge or Dension BT1500 are the options to get a mute and audio through the vehicle speakers, however you will need to check software compatability with your handset, do not assume because it has Bluetooth it will work...check the handset compatability first, this applies with all 3 options, and even then if it is suitable the allocated space for contacts may not be enough...especially if you use a PDA or the phone has 300+ contacts, so you may need to reduce your contacts.
For what it is worth... the Parrot has been connected properly for your vehicle model, but is not at its full potential because of the PCM system.
HTH
interface?
Hi X50, thanks for the info. I'm interested in the interface you mention for £40 or so as the install by the OPC was £450 ! can you give me any more details of the approved interface as OPC say there is no way to achieve this without invalidating the warrenty
Thanks
Ian
Go back to your dealer and tell them their installer requires an 06-921b,although why you should have to tell him how to do the job on your car is beyond me! RRP is £70ish...trade is£45ish depending on supplier...by the sounds of it they need to use a proffessional Cellular Engineer  and not be charging excessive amounts for a job half done :floor:
BTW the mute feature whilst muting the rear speakers would also pause cd playback under normal circumstances, the interface lead mentioned will not pause the cd but just isolate the rear speakers and route phone audio through the fronts, without cutting the original wiring, it plugs inline at the amp under the bonnet,

hey X50 you obviously 'know your onions', what would you reckon is the best straight swop for PCM2 if i wanted a DD sat nav/bluetooth system? fed up with the sim card swop in/out hassle and nearly £500 for bluetooth upgrade to PCM2.....could buy decent full system for bit more??
cheers
Make your life a bit easier and gain additional functionality at the same time: get a Bluetooth mObridge.
iPod integration, and it works with all mobile handsets including iPhone, Blackberries (incl. Curve/Bold/Storm), Nokias, Sony Ericssons, Motorolas, LGs, Samsungs, HTCs (incl. Windows Mobile) etc.
Dial/receive calls. Read SMS texts. Auto-mute function. Search/navigate your iPod playlists. etc. All from the PCM2 screen without touching your phone or iPod.
£525 with free delivery. Click on my signature for more info, or call us direct on O7845 911911.
Personally I would go for Pioneers AVIC-F900BT ... Kenwoods DNX5220BT is also popular... Pioneer probably has the edge for bluetooth users. Although it is not just a straight swap :hand: Depends if you can live with the PCM nav? If you PM me your location I can put you in touch with a decent installer..
Polarexpress - do you supply a new microphone with the mObridge kit? As I feel this is probably one of the things that lets the sim card system down in terms of quality. If the mObridge uses the same Porsche supplied mic then that could be a weakness...
Also what difference is there between your mObridge kit and the Parrot MKi9200 which would appear to have all the same functions (and some more to boot) as the mObridge kit but for less than a third of the price?? Perhaps the only thing it doesn't have as standard is the steering wheel control but I understand this can be sorted....
Steve
Yes, the mObridge comes with an echo cancelling mic and has background noise cancelling circuitry built in. It purposely uses it's own proprietary mic because the Porsche mic is so poor, as you correctly point out.
Regarding the Parrot vs mObridge, some of the key points:
the mObridge is a completely invisible solution: ie, there is nothing on the dash. The mObridge gives you the ability to control the iPod and your phone directly via the PCM2 screen.
In comparison, the Parrot requires an external device mounted on the dashboard presenting a security issue/potential damage from mounting.
the mObridge also charges your iPod, and it also provides 24bit ADCs for premium sound quality. The Parrot does neither.
the mObridge allows you to control your [hidden] iPod via the PCM2 as if the iPod were a giant CD changer. The Parrot does not, forcing you to fumble with the iPod whilst driving (don't try it, it's dangerous)
Don't forget that the mObridge connects the sound over the fibre optic MOST bus, not an analogue or bluetooth connection.
The mObridge was originally designed in conjunction with Porsche Australia for an optimised interface and integration. It is still available as a dealer-fit option for Porsches sold in Australia.
Yes, we supply the mObridge.
See these screenshots of the mObridge in operation on PCM2:

Hi X50,
Well i took your info and put it to the OPC and they replied saying they wouldn't be happy to fit it incase it invaladated the warrenty. How can i get a difinitave answer to whether this would affect the warrenty?
