Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I've become really spoiled by the head unit in my 2017 GTI Sport, with Apple Car Play . I'm considering replacing the CDR30 in my 2010 Boxster Base with an aftermarket head unit that is Apple Car Play compatible. It seems most aftermarket head units require a new Bluetooth microphone. Are there any aftermarket head units that plug and play with the existing microphone? Thanks! Mike

POST 2Original post

I plan on installing a new Pioneer AVIC8400 NEX this weekend in my 981 . The 981 has TWO microphones on the steering wheel cover and you will have to splice into the stock microphones to use them. Typically, microphones have 22-24 guage wire, 2 wires stranded with a shield and the splicing of the shield is not always easy to do. In my case, I'm going to use the Pioneer microphone and mount it either on the steering wheel cover or on the windscreen near the A-Pillar / Sunvisor.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the insights algiorda. Does it look like this kit would allow use of the factory microphone. It's advertised as "plug and play" with most systems with no wiring modifications. https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/OEMRADDELE.html Thanks again, Mike
