Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

IIRC from my early days of scanning this forum, somebody ended up w/ a Cayman that wouldn't start and around a $5K repair bill to install a new wiring harness from a similar installation attempt.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My 2008 has the Bose option with rear speakers. I have searched and read...and I am looking for clarification regarding the install of a D3. I believe that I had the same issue in my M3. The amp and speakers and head unit ALL had to go. Is that the issue? Anyone do a "gut the Bose" and start from scratch? Any speaker/amp/install advice? I am thinking that even with the gutting and cost of speakers/amps etc...I will still come out ahead versus factory nav and PCM...with DVD, MP3, iPod, etc. Any info would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

You will have to definitely remove the factor amp as it utilizes the MOST based system which the D3 does not support. I am not sure on the speakers once the factor amp is removed.

POST 3Original post

IIRC from my early days of scanning this forum, somebody ended up w/ a Cayman that wouldn't start and around a $5K repair bill to install a new wiring harness from a similar installation attempt. Not saying it can't be done, but be cautious and do lots of homework first!
