If looking to completely remove the
BOSE system
and replace with aftermarket components and speakers, does anyone know the values for the following (is this info published anywhere else?)
Dash - Center (size _____)
Dash - Left + Right High (size ______ )
Door - Left + Right Mid (size _______ )
Door - Left + Right Low (size ________)
Console - subwoofer (size ________ )
Rear - Left + Right (size __________)
Thanks
According to 2006 Technik Service Introduction Man.
Here you go:
Dashboard - 2 X 25mm neodym tweeters
Center - 1 X 70mm neodym mid range loudspeaker
Door - 2 X 80mm neodym loudspeakers, 2 X200mm Nd low range loudspeakers
Rear Sides - 2 X80mm neodym mid-range loudspeakers
Subwoofer in footwell, one 102 X 153mm low range loudspeaker
May I ask why are you replacing the speakers? From my point of view the speakers are great, however the rest of the components are the once that are lacking. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it's performance.
I have always felt that since the
Cayman
is not a quite car (ie
Lexus
) there was little point in putting in a great stereo and upgrading the speakers. I am not a fan of the
Bose system
but it is fine for the
Cayman
.
It seems to me, but I am not an audiophile, that there is jut too many other sounds in the cabin (e.g., engine,
tires
, standard rattles) to realize any value in making marginal improvement to either the speakers or stereo.
I guess if you are parked with the engine off maybe, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the
Cayman
.
i understand the debate regarding cabin noise vs. sound quality. am researching what my/our options are (those of us with the
Bose system
).
does anyone know if the DEPTH measurements are available?
Try mbquart.com to see if their speakers fit. They are one of the best for cars
Does anyone know if these values are the sizes of the actual speakers or speakers + their mounting enclosure?
