Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So.....the search continues and is now in the Milwaukee area. Looking at a nice 2001 C2, 45K miles, good history. Can any of you suggest a good indy (or dealer?) for a quality PPI? AFAIK, it has the original IMSB, and has had regular annual services. TIA for your suggestions.

POST 2Original post

How about international auto porsche? Id look it over but I'm absolutely swamped right now. If you have any questions, I'm in Milwaukee also.

I would steer clear of the their Waukesha/Brookfield location.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Nitro, I'll check them out. Won't be getting up there myself till the first week in April. If things lighten up a bit for you before then, please let me know. I'd love another set of independent eyes to take a look. Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

Sneaky Pete, they were on my list; would you care to elaborate (offline/PM is fine)? Thanks.

Sure....had a bad experience a few months back. Service Manager (Mr. Frizzle.......fitting name) is condescending and cannot be trusted. Nor does he know his way around a 911. I would stay away. Concourse is another dealer in MKE. There are some Indy's up there. These guys are good. http://csmotorsports.net/ They are in a western suburb of MKE.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great minds and all that..... Already talking to Chris over at CS.Motorsports. Just looking for an alternative in case he's busy or unavailable. Thanks for the heads up on Concourse.

POST 8Original post

If the car is in southern/southwestern Milwaukee, Fischer Motors is a well regarded indy in the northwestern Chicago suburbs. Not all that far from Milwaukee, in case you can't find a good spot up there. Thus far I've only read about Fischer on Rennlist but I have a PPI scheduled with them on Friday and can report on my experience.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Karl! Please do report on your experience. I'll check them out on the web as well.

POST 10Original post

Update based on my experience: I thought they did a great job. The facility looks/feels excellent, the staff was polite and seemed knowledgeable, they explained everything well and sent an email copy of the report exactly when they said they would. The car's owner got it to their shop 1.5 hours late but they didn't mind, they started the inspection as soon as it arrived. I had a PPI done previously in the week at another indy and while both seemed equally thorough, Fischer was more polite and communicated better. Doesn't hurt that the car passed their inspection and I bought it. :-)

POST 11Original post

Hi there. A good friend works at O'Reilly Motorcars a bit north of Milwaukee downtown on Cherry Street. I would trust him to do a PPI on a Porsche. If you need another set of eyes to check it out, I am happy to do so.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Karl and Sequel. I spoke with Nick at Fischer and is a great guy and the shop sounds very capable. They are about 2 hours drive away so that may not work. Also, I did get with Chris at CS Motorsports, and they also are on my list. Close by and sound like real Porsche guys with a performance background. I will check out OReilly as well, thanks.

Adding one more resource to this list. European Auto Haus in Mequon. Ive had them do work on my 928 and 996. They also did a PPI on my 996. One of the owners, Nathaniel, went to NY recently to do a PPI on a 959. Incidentally, before I found them, I went to CS Motorsports to work on my 928. I was never impressed.

POST 15Original post

I will stop and check them out - much closer to me /

Fabson is an excellent shop and have used them for my past 944s and a 1980 911SC. However, when I brought my 996 up there to talk some preventative maintenance, the guy seemed to turn up his nose. It seemed that the air cooled 911s were more there specialty. I'd check out Mraz in Brookfield. I live in the north side of MKE and have taken mine there for the past two years (they handled my IMS, RMS, and clutch right after purchase). The guys there are fantastic and thorough and their documentation and recommendations for future maintenance are impeccable.
