It has several actuators in the seat which adjust padded panels in the seat based on acceleration, braking, turning.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello gents,
I have been a Porsche fan since, well since a long long long time ago. I've spent a little time and developed a simulator which I think is the most realistic in the world in private hands. It is a 996 GT3 1 t0 1 scale.
I have a small Porsche museum in the room of which the centerpiece is my Wilco Michaels diorama.
I will be refining this prototype for sale at a point in the future. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.
Wow!!! So good it's verging on "creepy"
Just kidding on the creepy part
Amazing!!! That is a world class tribute (the diorama) and the simulator... awesome
Your parents must have a lot of patience to let you build that in their basement/your "apartment". Too bad you will have to get rid of it if you ever get a girlfriend...
*Just kidding! Looks pretty amazing actually. I cant imagine the work that went into it. Out of curiosity, what are you using for software, etc to drive it? And where do you get track maps, etc?
The seat is a G Force seat. It has several actuators in the seat which adjust padded panels in the seat based on acceleration, braking, turning. It's extremely convincing. Coupled with the Dbox motion platform it gives an amazingly convincing feeling of motion.
There is a 5 point harness to further enhance the G seat.
I was just messing with you but that is very cool. Thanks for the explanation.
Are you in ME or EE by chance?
P.S. You should open it up to people and start charging them to drive it.
I own a 944 S2 cabriolet which has been highly modified. Old timers here know the car.
Only PC games can allow this type of simulator. Console games cannot. This is Assetto Corsa with the developer options turned on.
Console games also wouldn't allow the 240 degree needed for full FOV coverage. When I look out of the cockpit I see what I would see in real life all the way back past the B pillars. It's very immersive.
It's actually scary to crash because the motion is so strong and violent during a crash. You are tense and concentrating while driving because crashing is pretty jolting.
"It's actually scary to crash because the motion is so strong and violent during a crash. You are tense and concentrating while driving because crashing is pretty jolting."
Perhaps the "ultimate simulator" would make crashing truly painful - scaled to the seriousness of the crash, but obviously no "critical" type injuries...maybe just deep bruising or a light fracture here and there
... Of course I'm being a little bit facetious, but I think the overall lap times would reflect the reluctance to crash.
What's ME?
This is a prototype. I'm hoping to build turnkey systems for man caves, garages, Porsche dealerships, amusement. It doesn't take much space despite the looks. That room it's in is pretty small 9x12 and I have room left over for the other simulator and my mini Porsche museum.
Hehe, trust me, you don't want to crash. It does reflect in lap times. It's way more realistic in this rig by miles and miles. Most iRacing champs race at their desk with no or minimal force feedback. This is an entirely different experience. You're exhausted after a good session in it. I prefer realism over artificially inflated lap times.
Um, wanna throw up some details on the build?
The sim is amassing! Was wanting to donsomething similar using OEM seats, shifter and some pedals. Prob a legit project but sounds like a good challenge.
Challenge isn't the half of it lol. I almost gave up several times developing this thing. But now have it sorted out. Can't just gives plans for it away, this is being turned hopefully into a commercial simulator. Thanks for the nice words.
This is EPIC I love it, smaller than some of the ones I've seen and the actual cabin of a 996 (hell any car cabin, sports car) would be so much better, imo than some of the seats with hydraulics and such.
Yes and better actually. Hydraulic actuators are quite slow. These are electromagnetic. Very powerful servo motors with motion and powerful tactile. It is extremely convincing.
New video with some tweaks to the graphics, motion, and added elements from the 3D models.
You Tube
Development continues and its getting better daily.
Lemme know when you need some additional testers....I'm just up here north of Hartford, lol....looks amazing.
How do you plan to tackle the licensing issues?
Not yet, but I hope to bring the RealGT to the sim racing expo to show people what one person with dedication can do if I can secure capital.
For the past 2 years I have done nothing but work on this. The technical hurdles in order for this to function correctly are daunting to say the least. Before my self imposed sabbatical I worked as a technician for hedge funds. I'm going to have to go back to that as money is running low.
Haha yeah, Wilco is a master. When I contracted him to build this model I told him to make sure to add little touches that wouldn't immediately be obvious. Check out his site please, WILCODIORAMAS.COM
The RealGT has a Porsche shape now. Think of it as basically a placeholder. That being said I plan to offer buyers a bespoke platform. You like Ferrari, Porsche, Honda, Lamborghini? I'll try my best to build the chassis in that spirit.
Indeed my friend. That is what I'm hoping, to bring this to market at a price that rivals some of the higher end rig manufacturers but with much much much higher level of immersion, aesthetic beauty. Hopefully commercial options open up as well as I've been on several commercial simulators and outside of their cost, my simulator is better
I'm a single person with a dream, to say I have several forces against me is an understatement. Please help me by visiting my channel on youtube and distributing my cockpit videos as many places as you can.
Thank you!
Lackey, can you make a video of you showing the exterior of the project and describing how/what/why you did for a few minutes before adding three minutes of driving? Also add the exterior shot of you driving so people can see the car moving about and how this looks from outside. Also, get the best quality camera you can for the video; hire a professional if you need.
I will gladly post that video on my linked-in to get you some exposure. As is, just the driving video does little to explain what it is people are looking at and marketing value of your video is very low for people unfamiliar with your project.
If you are serious about trying to commercialize this. Make a new channel strictly dedicated to this project on youtube, post weekly updates with your progress and keep spreading the word. Gorilla Jones with BF4 video would not be my first choice for marketing platform.

Thank you very much for the advice it is greatly appreciated. I'm working on getting a professional to come film some footage. I have to be limited in what I show though because I have a couple of patent pending things that I cannot show. Don't know if you're familiar with sim racing industry but there is TONS of stealing of ideas. I personally had two ideas stolen by a rig manufacturer who I will not name. But I stupidly sent him sketches and CAD drawings for something on the basis that he was going to help me develop. I never heard back from him and a year later he was offering almost an identical product. I had no recourse because I was a gullible moron and sent him the originals.
So, I'm being extra cautious with what I show. I have however shown several shots of the simulator from the outside in my thread on this forum. Its a rough prototype, but gets the job done amazingly well. Once I can secure financing I can flesh out a finished product.
Please PM me so we can chat.
And thanks again for the advice.
