Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I put a new MP3 CD in my PCM last Friday. It worked well Saturday and Sunday but this morning (Monday) it just squealed at me. I pushed the release CD button and it still squealed at me so I listened to the radio on the way to work. When I got to work I hit the play CD button and I got a notice on my screen that there is no CD installed. The PCM never gave it back to me so I assume it is still in there somewhere. Short of going to the Porsche dealer is there any easy way to clear the problem.

Try pulling the fuse and putting it back in. It worked on my old Boxster. I haven't had a problem with the Cayman yet. I don't think the CD player likes homemade CD's.

POST 3Original post

When I came home tonight I pushed the release CD button and the little devil popped right out. Course like a fool I put it back in to see if it would work. It worked like a champ all the way home. I always loved things that mysteriously fixed themselves. Probably should make an appointment at the Porsche dealer because I have noticed that things that fix themselves generally do not last. Jay

POST 4Original post

Mine PCM has no problem with homemade CD's. You want to talk about a picky system, the CD player on my GTI is a pain in the *** when it comes to making MP3 CD's it will play. On the bright side it holds six of them vs just one for the MUCH more expensive Porsche unit. G.

You aren't alone it seems http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-complaints/4744-cd-stuck-dash.html That is just your Cayman's way of telling you listen to its engine..

POST 7Original post

PCM systems have a strong affinity for ABBA. They don't like to let their ABBA CDs escape. Admit it. It was ABBA.

POST 8Original post

The disk that got stuck in my old Boxster was "Captain & Tennille's Greatest Hits".
