Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've always fired mine up every couple of weeks, thinking about it I don't know why I bothered 🤣🤦"♂ï¸, guess as its only done 1800 mile since rebuild so was checking for leaks etc...I do plan to use it more but alot of meets etc cancelled this year as we all know.
Leading evidence: 'bit chilly) in my garage' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'bit chilly) in my garage' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check leaks etc...i do plan' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It had a wash before it went in but will need a spring clean and interior clean next year.

It's too clean underneath for me to get it blathered and then have to clean it all off again!

I take my hat off to those who run their sportscars all year round but these days am happier to keep mine for the better weather.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So my car is sorned until the better weather, I only do 3-4k a season in my 996.
During these months I like to give everything a good clean and protection to the paint work & wheels. I tend to have it on trickle charge for a couple of weeks and then a week off, I also leave out of gear with handbrake off, leather and carpets cleaned and protected too.
How offer would you start the car and bring upto temperature?! Also I see some people over inflate there tyres to prevent flat spots?!
Love to hear of any other ideas while garaged?!
I know people like driving the 996 all seasons, but I'd feel sick taken mine out in the wet 🤦"♂ï¸ðŸ¥µ
Thanks guys, I meant how often would you start the car (weekly?)
Glad you use yours outside Alex, I'm a fair weather only kinda guy, respect you get out there tho 👊ðŸ‘
My cab is snug (and actually probably a bit chilly) in my garage.
Trickling away with the drivers window open and covered with a breathable cover.
This ensures that the interior will not smell.
Obviously to make sure there are no mice type intruders my 2 cats patrol the garage for me.
I must admit once there's salt on the road mine stays on the ramp! It's too clean underneath for me to get it blathered and then have to clean it all off again! Personally I wouldn't start it at all. I never start the bikes unless I'm off out and it's the same with the Porsche. Running at idle doesn't help much a and stuff like condensation been trapped in the exhaust won't be very helpful. If it's not salted on the roads get out and use it! It'll do it more good than sitting.
I'm like you Owly. It's no fun sliding around on greasy roads with inconsistent grip and it's even less fun washing cars in the freezing cold.
My car is sat in the garage on its battery conditioner. It had a wash before it went in but will need a spring clean and interior clean next year.
I didn't bother over inflating my tyres but it's not a bad precaution. I'll get it out about once a month or whenever I need to move it to access my garage loft. Which is a fair bit at the moment as we are gearing up for another house move.
I wouldn't bother starting it unless you have to, as every start is just more wear.
If you're worried when you come to start it in the new year simply pull fuse C4 out of the fusebox in drivers footwell then turn the engine over until you get oil pressure on the gauge. Stick the fuse back in and fire it up.
Some folk find cars that have sat for decades and they're fine (albeit with a bit more prep than we are talking here), so leaving a modern car for 3 or 4 months really isn't anything to worry about, despite what some folk on forums might say.
Cheers Guys,

I do put a fleece lined fitted cover on, this is tricky when you have polished the car mind 🤦"â™‚ï¸ I used to put a plastic dehumidifier in to reduce moisture but was told it would dry the leather out ðŸ§
been out in my 75' 911 today for an hour. taking etype out tomorrow. they need moving and going through the gears! staring them up doing nothing...
996 out daily
We are so lucky in this country to be able to drive 12 months of the year. This should result in higher mileages being accrued, but there is not much evidence of that.
@Gt3Owl - I don't use the 911 during the winter either but I do start it and warm it through every 2 - 3 weeks, varying the revs, gradually raising them as it warms up and blipping the throttle a bit more until it's fully warmed through and the oil is at operating temp - usually takes about 30-45 mins.
This way fresh oil gets around the engine, the Air-con compressor gets a workout (the refrigerant needs circulating to lubricate the seals) and being hot there's no condensation left in the exhaust.
If the roads are dry and haven't been salted, I also take it for a run around the block - otherwise it stays put, Ctek conditioner, breathable cover, max tyre pressure/tyre savers and silica Dessicant bags in the footwells.
I take my hat off to those who run their sportscars all year round but these days am happier to keep mine for the better weather.
