Gotcha yes, reason I'd want to borrow a single to test before I commit to buying a set of 16's.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Anybody? I figure maybe a winter tire or dirt tire guy may have tried this already. If you have done it please post.

POST 2Original post

An early 986 wheel of 16” should work, but I’ve never heard of a 15” being used. Why would you want that? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

POST 3Original post

Why wouldn't you want more sidewall for winter or dirt.. Maybe I can borrow a 986 16" from somebody to test fit. I guess I could just get 17" tires with a larger sidewall but then you get in to all the issues with overall diameter increasing.

POST 4Original post

I'm not sure 16" wheels would fit around the brakes. The smallest wheels that came on 987 cars is 17" IIRC.

POST 5Original post

Gotcha yes, reason I'd want to borrow a single to test before I commit to buying a set of 16's. Sometimes aftermarket wheels have more brake clearance than OE wheels. That is another consideration.

POST 6Original post

I'm not sure if you've tried the wheel yet, but 16" split spoke wheels wouldn't fit on my car '05 987 because of the rear lower control arm. I tried when I got the set to put on my vintage bug.
