Evening All, I've decided to bite the bullet and get my second gear pop out sorted with a gearbox rebuild on my 996 C4S. The car has done 150k miles still on its original IMS, clutch and fly were done 20k miles ago by previous owner. Whilst the gearbox is out is there anything I should consider doing at the same time? Welcome any comments please...

My gearbox out to do RMS (and IMS while there) turned into gearbox oil seal, propshaft rubber and then.... engine out due to oil cooler leak, then, new oil cooler, AOS, starter and starter cable (totally fixed lazy hot starting) and two new AC pipes. I was recommended to do coil packs as well but they'd been recently done, as had brake line over the gearbox. You'll find plenty to do when the gearbox drop reveals all the issues!

Rear main seal, brake pipe, and through bitter knuckle skinning soul destroying experience, the AOS.

Anything that's leaking or looks like its on it's way out, otherwise leave well alone........and fit either a new gearbox mount or the powerflex inserts that can be fit in the original mount.
