Its bone dry after last nights deluge of rain,so yesterday I checked carefully around all the drain and seals and found a slight tear around in the seal on the hood section but that was near the front by the windows, superglued it successfully, also looking at some other forums I discovered a few recommendations to use silicone on the seals which seemed to liven them up considerably..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
So sorting through various issues at least this one is not abs or tiptronic related and cheap to fix!
So water lots of water in the rear passenger foot well!
As to date a new soft top has been fitted this is totally water tight, checked all over no leaks, all the drain points are completely clear interior panels off new flexible pipes fitted and rear wheel are drains completely clear running a hose over the car no leaks in that area at all. So wet carpets dried out .. there wet again, carpets up again water seems to be appearing around the base of the bottom bolt of the seat belt mount... I know water travels easily im bit puzzled really is it possible that the rear quarter windows could leak water into the car and track through into the rear foot well?? Any other area to look?
Thanks in advance!
This sounds like it's one of the more awkward leaks to find a fix ..
Happy to have a stab at it though ...
Roof closed .. with a hose pipe pour water over the rear screen .. more so on the side its leaking .. don't go mad though ..
Open the roof 12 inches .. unclip the roof cables at the back at the bottom ball joint .. push them basically .. do it both sides and you can lift the rear screen up and rest it on the rear bulkhead ...
Roof in service position basically .. then look for water on that rear section of carpet where the roof cable ball joint is ..
If wet .. the seal that runs along the base section which the CTL sits on to seal it .. lift this up and inspect the seam ..
In other words the drain holes under the CTL .. you are looking at where this joins to the bodywork .
I've got one in at work atm .. split seam .. water getting in at this point , running under the carpet to the rear seat base ... in other words the rear seat belt bolt .
Start with that check and ill have a ponder for more areas to check .
Cheers for the replies ,
So is the image number 4 is actually the edge of the clam shell lid?
I'll take a look in the morning again also on the image is drain numbered 8 does that flow into the black collector aswell?
Also noticed that the carpet under the clam shell where the hood goes was wet to around the drain number 8 is that normal?
Cheers again for all your expertise guys much appreciated
Well may have solved it, fingers crossed !
All drain holes checked clear drain no 8 goes straight down behind the back wheel.. the drivers side is bone dry so looking at the corrugated drain tube its connected to the outlet and goes around and into the hopper, the passenger side ive noticed that the corrugated pipe connects to the out let (heres the issue I think) ..
The carpet in that area is taller than the other side it forces the pipe up above the out let then down, as water doesn't flow upwards it seems to find its way back down the pipe and exit into the car so I've cut 2 inches off the carper to allow the pipe to fall into the hopper ....
Fingers crossed!
No.8 either drains out into the wheel arch liner or its drained via the corrugated pipe .
Clam shell base seal is the item im referring to .. no.4 .
The rear carpet under the clamshell should not be wet .. it sounds very similar to the one i have at work .. you need to remove the rear carpet under the clam shell and see if the foam heading down to the electrics is wet ... if dry then your fine .. if wet you need to find the leak.
To be honest you need to find the leak regardless as you will have steamed up windows when left outside .
There is an emergency drain in each back corner under the carpet but its not that good .
Clam shell open .. 12 " from the front of the CTL is a drain hole .. this is where the seam can split and allow water in ... the only other way is a damaged rear seal on the cab roof .. the one the CTL presses on .
CTL = clam shell .
Thanks again DeMort,
