Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I've searched the world but cannot find step by step instructions on replacing front and rear sway bars. Looks like the rear is no big deal but how about the front? Is this an OK DIY project on jackstands?

POST 2Original post

Haven't done it but the rear isn't hard. The front requires dropping the subframe

POST 3Original post

OP, which car? Your profile lists a 987.2 and your sig lists a 987.1 . Also which transmission? I can only speak for 987.2 with PDK and say that swapping the rear bar (never tried the front) requires all sorts of disassembly. More than I was willing to undertake on jack stands, and I’m well equipped and very mechanically minded. I can only assume a manual car is much easier as people are always describing the process as being a piece of cake. It ain’t. Not with PDK anyway.

Used to be a solid articles section here, including a sway bar one. Best you can do is use way and machine: Cayman Front Sway Bar - Articles

POST 5Original post

"way and machine" ? Thanks for the link. That guy did it on a lift but I'll be on jackstands. Does the subframe have to be supported as it is lowered? I.e. put a jack under it? Arch, BOTH! I'm thinking about moving the track suspension parts from the 987.2 , making it more a street car, and putting them on the 987.1 , improving its already competent track manners. Both manuals.

POST 6Original post

Sorry, autocorrect, I meant “wayback machine” admin the internet archive.
