Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I picked up my first Porsche last month and absolutely love it! It's a 2000 C2 Cabriolet. I bought it from the original owner who is a fanatic. The car was used to commute once a week between Connecticut and Manhattan, and garaged on both ends. The car had 35k miles on it when I purchased it. It has a Valentine One radar detector built into the car which displays in the rearview mirror. As you can see from the photo, I can't stop smiling when I'm in this car. I have a lot of questions but will try to find them in the forums before posting them.
-Bill
Thanks. Yes, forest green metallic paint. I would have preferred silver or gray, but I'm growing to like the green. I don't think I've ever seen another one.
I checked the factory options decode page and saw this:
Code Option Description
09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme
Does that mean anything or is "exclusive-programme" a generic term?
Hmmm. The original owner tried to teach me that "Exclusive Options" secret handshake, but I thought he was just coming on to me. Poking around this site, it looks like I'm going to have to change to the clear side lights. Seems mandatory.
Thanks for all of the kind words. You seem to genuinely embrace newbies here, which is refreshing. I've had different experiences dealing with other fan sites/forums (boating), where a n00b is flamed unmercifully if he doesn't use the proper jargon. I look forward to learning much about my 996 from the forums here and will try to keep stupid/oft-answered questions to a minimum.
Bill
naw, no flames for you... they are still flaming me....and by the looks of it, there is more flaming in the future, you're safe as long as I keep "being myself"
OK Bill, I didn't want to mention this yesterday because it was your initial post about the car. But today is another day, so.......
I am guessing that you have been driving the car with the top down too often because it appears that your hair has gotten bleached out by the sun!
What kind of gum should I chew, and how often should I change the radio station?
Do you worry about meteors falling from the sky and blowing your engine?
Hi Bill,
As another Newbie to the 996 board I can assure you all the little jabs are in good humor... but what ever you do - do not mention the two dreaded terms - no one is allow to speak of. Both are a series of three letters, and any comment about these could damage your new hair piece.
Now for some serious advice... if you want to really learn about your new Porsche (and this board is great for that) buy Adrian Streather's book "Porsche 996 The Essential Companion". 656 pages of an Engineers view of the new 2000th century 911.
P.S. Great color combination and again I like those wheels. May be my next add-on.
Thanks for all the kind words. I'm not sure how this came to the top again, but my introductory post was made a couple of months ago. I've learned a lot about my car (maybe too much) since I've been a member. Regarding those three letter terms whose names shall not be mentioned, "Foamy" is going in for augmentation tomorrow.
