Suggestion

For suspension bolts that go through bushings, I started using anti-seize on the portion that goes through the bush and loktite blue on the thread.

I've been looking for the correct torque figure to use on the nuts/studs which attach to rear sub-frames to the body.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been looking for the correct torque figure to use on the nuts/studs which attach to rear sub-frames to the body. I can't seem to find it mentioned in the Bentley workshop manual, although I did find someone on Rennlist asking the same question, although with reference to fitting solid mounts, where the answer was 110Nm. Is this correct for the standard rubber mounts? Also, what're your opinions on the best thing to do with nuts/bolts/studs in these lower, corrosion prone areas, whether steel to steel or dissimilar metals such as steel bolt in aluminium casting? 1) Don't apply anything to the threads 2) Apply blue Locktite (seal out moisture and isolate dissimilar metals) 3) Apply oil/grease/ACF50 other anti-corrosion type material 4) Apply copper/aluminium based anti-seize grease 5) Something else....

POST 2Original post

For suspension bolts that go through bushings, I started using anti-seize on the portion that goes through the bush and loktite blue on the thread. It doesn't seem to matter if they cross contaminate, and nothing has seized or inadvertently come undone so far in seven years. I would strongly caution against using nothing at all, there lies corrosion and snapped bolts or stripped threads. For subframe to body stuff that you're unlikely to want to undo in the future I would go with liberal amounts of locktite blue to isolate the dissimilar metals, as you suggest.

POST 3Original post

Loctite blue, the demountable stuff is best for studs. Torque on them is 46nm and the nuts are 110nm. Just don't mine!

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
