Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You have to pry it away from the pump for 1/4" or so, then you can disconnect the reservoir from the back.

If I replace the pump, how the heck do I remove this bolt?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am dropping in a replacement engine in my 2002 996. Insee what like to be a lot of old fluid around the PS pump. Does this look like a leak from the PSP?? See photo:
If I replace the pump, how the heck do I remove this bolt? There doesn't seem to be any clearance to get a wrench or socket on the bolt. Any advice?
Front right bolt on PSP.
clean it off to be sure but it might require ..................................................GASP a snap on torx wrench .......some wrenches are thinner than others ......some may need to be ground to fit
No need to remove that bolt. Instead, you remove the hard line and then the 3 torx bolts (top 3 in the photo) in your first photo. You need to fiddle with the pump and get it to the right angle to clear the bracket.
Thanks! After looking at it again, I realized it was two pieces, and not one.
Now....anyone know how the reservoir comes off the back? I took the two bolts out, that come in from the back. However, that didn't seem to loosen anything. I didn't want to force it, for fee of breaking it.

Come up with that one all on your own, or did your mommy help you?
I so hate jackssses that feel more compelled to criticize or insult someone, than either help or just stay the hell away. World would be a better place without them......
What always helps me if I can't figure out how something comes apart or is installed if there is limited info online or in the factory manual is to look up the part on ebay or Google images.
Quite often sellers (I try to as well) will list up their items with good high quality 365 degree visuals of the item they are selling and you get to see the details of how it looks apart of out of the car.
Helped me out in quite a few situations where there is a hidden mount or bolt etc.
