Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yikes. What do we reckon this will go for? https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2001-porsche-911-996-turbo-1

POST 3Original post

As it's been bid on by 'toomuchbeerbeforebidding' it could be coming to hedge back near you!!

POST 4Original post

Am I stupid for thinking 'why not spend the £80k on a newer Turbo?' ?

POST 5Original post

People can get sucked into the horsepower game.... Err, guilty

POST 6Original post

Im saying it wont sell on CC. Its a very niche product that requires someone who understands and appreciates the time and effort that went into the build.

POST 7Original post

Even at £30k (the price of a cheap turbo) I would not be interested. I bet it is a handful to drive - spikey power delivery and rock hard suspension if it's spent all its recent life on track

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I wonder if this is the DriftLimits car? if so, it'll have had a very hard life

POST 9Original post

Looking at the spec its been built properly - never seen that car at any VMAX events though strange I'd be straight up there with that beast. Will murder a 992 turbo s on road and 992 GT3 RS on track in experienced hands that would 8)

POST 10Original post

I would want gearbox details for that. A proper gearbox is expensive and without a set of straight cut gears I wouldn't expect it to last very long. Some very nice kit on there though, that is a serious build. MC

POST 11Original post

Easy 60-80k spent, its quite a near clone to some of my car Like you Martin, i see nothing on the gearbox, standard can only take 580-620 before the torque will destroy it ! My box was from Bill Rider in the US with a fresh rebuild, straight gears and chosen ratios etc Meth/water bottle install is not to nice and the Y pipe looks a little restrictive, i would liek to know mor about the fueling system, retuns, rails etc, we had a lot f difficulties in this area For any nay sayers, BHP hunters etc, my car is 100% driveable if a little hairy when tempted on boost! I quite like it but i would wouldn't I! Would like to view it to see the level / quality of the work I wont sell but what a car to enjoy for not much money in rea terms! keep it on boost and not a lot will touch it end of

POST 12Original post

Maybe a standard 996 box, but he could have put a GT2 box in? Edit: what's with the 1990's boost controllers? Should be running a proper ECU with switchable maps. Sounds like he's diffed a standard box. Double edit: 1200hp at 1.5 bar....??

POST 13Original post

It's the torque. I tuned my last turbo (997.2) to ~620hp. Quite a light tune compared to some of the monsters out there. The rear end would often break traction hoofing it out of bends. My 991.1 turbo S feels a lot more stable out the bends with its measly 570hp. I've so far left it stock and it feels more planted than my 997.2. A 1200hp 911 would be awful/scary to leather down the local A roads

POST 14Original post

It looks like my ideal car. I'd keep it dialled back to 6-700hp and take the cage out and put the rear seats back in and use it for the school run and B road blasts. I reckon it'll make £50k.

POST 15Original post

I think it looks great! Undriveable at 1200hp of course, but at least it would look the part as it went backwards through a hedge.... MF.
