Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Recommend front damper' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend front damper' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Will do a bit more research on koni...see what CG suggest as they seem to have recommended koni before over bilsteins without lowering/coilovers

Although the damping characteristics may be very different, it's no different from using adjustable dampers and using custom settings.

Could you just use koni dampers for a 996 C4 on the front?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It seems from the Koni website that Koni only has rear shocks to fit the 996 Turbo.
The description of these seems to imply they can be mixed with different front dampers.
Does anyone have a different understanding...and if so any part numbers for front special actives?
Also not, can these be mixed with b4/b6 on the front?
Regards
K
There is nothing wrong with mixing brands/models of dampers front to rear on a car. Although the damping characteristics may be very different, it's no different from using adjustable dampers and using custom settings. The damping requirements are so different between the front and rear on a 911 because of the extreme rear weight bias that I'm surprised it's not more commonly done.
It does tend to upset purists though.
Thanks for the replies
@shalmaneser - that is what I m curious about. Odd that koni offer no recommended front damper.
@martin996rsr - it does seem like it wouldnt be an issue, so any of the usual front non lowering options would seem to do. Will do a bit more research on koni...see what CG suggest as they seem to have recommended koni before over bilsteins without lowering/coilovers
Lowering capability is all about strut body length. If you're lowering much more than 30mm from stock then a shorter strut body will preserve damper travel, though the way some dampers are clamped into the front upright on a 996 means you can loosen the upright and slide it up the strut body.
I currently use H&R GT3 spec rear coil overs and OE MO30 fronts on my car. I drive a lot of very uneven B roads and I'm seriously considering changing to the new orange Konis for the front and putting some Koni Sport adjustables on the back. I'd buy Ohlins but sadly my wallet won't stretch that far.
