Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noticed after getting my new 2007 Cayman S last Thursday that when the headlights and fog lights are on, one of the passenger side brake light bulbs does not illuminate as brightly as the drivers side when the brake pedal is pressed. My local Porsche service rep is telling me this is normal for all German made cars, this sounds like a line of ****. Can anyone else confirm please?
This made me laugh.....
Yep...its true....the passenger side has no rear fog lamp....intentionally.
If you want to see something else that you are not used to seeing.....as you park, turn your signal light indicator on (flashing either to left or right). Then turn the car off, get out, shut the door, lock it....and go look at the front of your car.
Have fun.
100% correct.
You'd be surprised how many Porsches I see driving around with this fog light on. I think the local dealer is forgetting to tell people about this.
Sounds like the "problem" with my Boxster in '97. The official Porsche answer then (probably now also) was that the USA cars were not wired to allow both rear fog lights to come on. There was a "fix" using a jumper in the rear wiring harness that was on Porsche Pete's Boxster board. It may still be there. Something similar may allow both of the Cayman's rear fog light to be on. The one click, two click switch position contros the front (only) or front and rear light to be on. The turn signal in either the left or right position with the key removed is to accomodate street side parking in poorly lit areas, primarily in Europe.

And then it no longer looks like a fog light to those following but as tail lights thereby defeating the purpose. Think about it. By the way non-US cars don't have both on either.
The one fog light at the rear happened in Europe a few years ago. People were riding in the wet, not fog, and blinding everybody, and more to the point you couldn’t see if they braked, so they rated that the off side only (right in UK) left on mainland Europe and the States should be the fog light and should you hit the brakes then it is still visible that your braking !!! ................suppose it's logical really.
Yea think your right Nick, but, it's now illegal for new cars to have 2 working foglights at the rear. I Think for the reason of not seeing brake lights.
dont think that applies to all cars, my C4 has 2 rear fog lights, but the are not integrated with the taillights
This is NOT my car as I dont have pix of my car's rear!
