Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

So after 1,500 miles I was hoping this smell the car has would go away. When you just use the vents to blow air into the cabin, not with the ac on. Just the normal vents blowing into the cabin it smells like burnt oil or plastic something along those lines. If the ac is on, then there is no smell. So I am hoping it is just from the break in from the engine. Did anyone experience this with their new Cayman?

POST 2Original post

Do a search on Cosmoline . I think you will see from your search that the smell is quite normal and will eventually burn off.

POST 3Original post

When I brought in my car for the slave cylinder campaign, I mentioned the smell and the SA talked about Cosmoline, but it turned out an o-ring was leaking. TBH, I still smell the same thing so it's probably cosmoline that I smelled for the whole time.

POST 4Original post

Yes, 2,200 miles and I no longer smell it. But I did for a while, even after 1,000 miles.

POST 5Original post

Thank you all for the help, sounds as if that is what it is.
