Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What are views on this colour, here? In terms of resale, but also interested in general perceptions. It seems quite divisive. My wife loves it, as do the girls in the office. Male friends hate it. I am somewhere between the two. The wife element is important of course but equally I don't want to attract the wrong attention, one of the reasons I am looking at a 991 is that it's less conspicuous and doesn't attract adverse attention in urban areas like a Bentley or a Ferrari does.

POST 2Original post

Not long after I bought my 991 earlier this year, a yellow 991 came onto the market, (I think it was harbour cars) - fairly similar spec and price to mine. For a brief period, I wished I'd had the chance to buy that one instead, but in hindsight, the colour is much to conspicuous and would I'm sure attract the wrong kind of attention. The colour of mine is much more subdued and under the radar and in reflection, I'm glad i didn't have the chance to buy it.

POST 3Original post

Not normally a fan of ‘yellow’ but I think Speed Yellow is definitely the nicest yellow tone that Porsche has ever done.

POST 4Original post

Is it PTS? Because from the 991 generation onwards the standard yellow was Racing Yellow, a much more insipid, dull yellow than Speed Yellow.

POST 5Original post

There are 11 991's in yellow on AT, most are racing yellow but two are listed as speed. I think speed is a bit too British Telecom yellow if you remember that. Speed https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202211121... This one is gorgeous but listed as racing https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202404309...

I’ve never seen a Speed Yellow 991. I have a Racing Yellow T. I love it. But I use the car for weekends / fun / holidays. I wouldn’t want to turn up at many clients businesses in it. Edited by rob.kellock on Wednesday 26th June 12:27

The wife element is important of course but equally I don't want to attract the wrong attention, one of the reasons I am looking at a 991 is that it's less conspicuous and doesn't attract adverse attention in urban areas like a Bentley or a Ferrari does. As others have said, if a 991 suspect it’s racing yellow rather than speed. Good colour resource here: https://www.rennbow.org/color-wiki?modelYear=-1&am... Personally, I like yellow cars. When I bought a 997, I wanted either red or yellow but yellow cars mega rare. I ended up with guards red, which I love. Yellow 911s are more eye catching / shouty than the more standard silver/blacks that everyone specced them in. So if that’s a concern, don’t get yellow. But at the end of the day, it’s a 911. People are never going to treat it like a Lambo. Resale wise, I think that fewer people like yellow but those who do like it *really* like it. So it all depends on who is looking when you are trying to sell. Edited by Jawls on Wednesday 26th June 12:47

Do it. Had two yellow Porsche's, and now an orange one Can't beat a bright coloured car in a world of whites, greys, blacks and silvers

POST 11Original post

Racing Yellow was the launch colour of the 981 GT4 back in 2015 and Speed Yellow was a standard colour in the 993 / 996 era ? I had a Speed Yellow 996.2 GT3 which was lovely ... but in general it doesn't seem to be a particularly popular colour even though I like it. There was a conversation running recently on the only? Speed Yellow Cayman R ....

POST 12Original post

Speed Yellow is very 996/986. Racing Yellow is now the 'cooking' yellow, from 991/981 onwards IIRC. I like yellow because I like bright colours, and yellow is a bit unusual. If you don't like your car to stand out (why wouldn't you want it to stand out?), go for something else. Maybe there are fewer buyers for yellow cars, but there are fewer yellow cars for sale, so the 'resale risk' should be little different, especially if the spec is decent.

POST 13Original post

I ordered a speed yellow T which i rejected at it came without the aerokit as ordered. It was lovely in the flesh and really 'popped' in the sun.

Can look good on the right car.

POST 17Original post

Thanks Digga. This is the only photo I have of my pal’s former Speed Yellow 997. Personally I think it’s the better colour but possibly not best shown in this pic. |

POST 18Original post

I think of Speed Yellow as the halfway house between Racing yellow (lighter) and Signal Yellow (darker). Racing Yellow to me is closer to Pastel Yellow which always looks like an old sun faded yellow car to me.

I always thought it was a shame there were so few yellow 997 GT3s, but I guess that was perhaps just a reaction to how popular (deservedly so) it was on the 996 .1 & .2 GT3.

Especially considering it was one of only four free colours. https://www.stuttcars.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/... Didn't Steve Rance have one? I guess after the financial crash it's only natural for loud colours to go out of fashion for a bit-you'd have expected something similar now but I reckon the insta crowd are keeping loud colours popular. Not much clout in a Basalt Black these days!

Ferrari Yellow is a more 70’s “acid” yellow. Looks stunning in the flesh. However if yiu want full on retina-melting ability, there’s only one colour … Edit to add, yes, Steve R did have a stunning SY 997.1 GT3 Edited by Slippydiff on Wednesday 26th June 15:11

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, sorry the one I am looking at is Racing Yellow. I had a Speed Yellow 996 Turbo back in the day and got mixed up. I liked the colour on it but got lots of hostile looks. I've always been quite unfussed about the colour of my cars but yellow does seem to inflame some people on the street. I had a yellow NSX which seemed to be a magnet for idiots. Both of these more than 20 years ago though. Even more confusingly my wife loves yellow, hates red, hates white, hates viper green, loves Miami Blue, I would take the right car in any of those except maybe white

POST 24Original post

Racing was in the 991 as a standard colour, so more likely to find that to be what’s in cars rather than speed. Expect this is an error on advertisers as much as anything. Racing was lighter but brighter than speed. Had it on my 991.1GTS, carried it off really well, but a bit marmite for many. If you want bright it ticks the box & does get a lot of attention. When I traded in the sale was done in days few, see the car about near me occasionally still. Does look good.

I’m not really a fan of racing yellow - it just seems a bit too bright and lemon like. Speed yellow is much nicer or signal.

I love bright coloured Porsches! I call them "Smarties" like the chocolate sweets. But... I don't welcome the attention they get. Be it from the Police or "numbnuts".

POST 36Original post

Look at the quality of that car ... look at the drivers seat and compare it to a similar mileage 996 / Boxster seat ... The wheels to me look like the Cup 2's that could have been standard when new ... good lightweight wheels and prettier to my eye than the Cup 1's. Pricey but ? I'd want an inspection of the underside but it looks stunning, but I do have history with yellow cars !

Wanted a yellow 997 GTS too hard. Have YE11 WOO waiting for when I find the right yellow car in the future...

POST 42Original post

When I was looking for a 987 I looked at one in Speed Yellow. I thought the colour looked great in photos, but in the flesh I thought the colour looked slightly faded and not very vibrant. This was on a cloudy day so maybe the colour looks much better under direct sunlight.
