Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been looking around the net and on here for pics of a 996 with spacers on, does anyone have any? I'm looking at 15mm and 9mm from porscheshop.co.uk, I'm hoping the car will be ok 30mm lower with these on, but think it may be a bit hit and miss..... Cheers,

POST 2Original post

I don't run with any but I know alot of the guys on rennlist do, might be worth asking on there. Regards. p.s nice write ups again Steve. Thanks.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cool, I will take a look, and thanks you guys are welcome

POST 4Original post

I tried fitting the 9mm ones from Porscheshop on my 996T, but caused awful steering wheel vibration. Now have 7mm all round from design911.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

oh, that doesn't sound too good. Anyone else had that when increasing the track? I was all set to order some bits tomorrow...

POST 6Original post

When i went to centre gravity, chris mentioned that theres a number on the wheel which coresponds to the maximum spacer. On my 17's i think its 7 at the front and 15 at the back. I dont know what would happen if you went different to that tho, oh i dont forget you need longer wheel nuts too[ ].

POST 7Original post

5mm front & 17mm rear is what Porsche say for a pre 2001.

POST 8Original post

Ok, check out the turning circle ratios as well. Sometimes we just need to get better ourselves than change the machinery.

POST 10Original post

I knew there was a 5 and a 7 in there sumwhere. I dont understand why there aren't spacers as standard when the car comes from the factory.

POST 11Original post

Maybe because if you have spacers, you can't fit snow chains..... [ ]

POST 12Original post

So adding spacers im guessing would improve stability slightly, but does it increase the turning circle then?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I called Porsche today, 5mm all round is recomended for a C2 with 18" alloys. £250 for all four 5mm spacers with extended bolts. I don't think 5mm will make a noticeable difference? How does playing it safe and going for 9mm all round sound from porsche shop?
