Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My supplying OPC have been less than helpful so, after a lot of consideration, I changed OPC's - and 99% of my problems are now resolved !

The OPC changed the suspension arms because these were noisey but the problem still exists.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

For the last 15 months I have owned a base Cayman that has been plagued with problems, mainly clutch/gearbox related but also some brake issues. My supplying OPC have been less than helpful so, after a lot of consideration, I changed OPC's - and 99% of my problems are now resolved ! I went in for two new rear tyres and came out with a new clutch, new rear suspension arms, no hatch ratttles, in fact no rattles at all, power steering that does not expel air when it feels like it - all under warranty (except for the tyres !). However, there is one small problem, they, and I, can't work out. For the last month I keep getting a noise, a bit like a belt slipping, from the rear of the car. It only lasts for a couple of seconds and seems to happen when pulling away at a junction, i.e. from rest and then turning left or right. The OPC changed the suspension arms because these were noisey but the problem still exists. I can't get the car to make the noise all the time so it is very difficult to demonstrate to the service personnel. The only belts on the car are at the front of the engine behind the seats. The noise I am getting is a lot further back. This happens when the car is hot or cold. Has anybody had the problem or any suggestion as to what it could be ? As I have just had extensive work done at the rear anything lose etc. would have been evident. This is a UK based car if that makes any difference.

POST 2Original post

Just a guess but could it be the exhaust hanger slipping back and forth in one of the exhaust hanger bushings?

POST 3Original post

Thanks K-man. That is certainly a possibility. The sound is of something slipping hence why a said it was like a belt slipping (against a pulley). I will check the exhaust hangers this evening.
