Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All I can find is the full housing, the full visor, the mirror, but no one want to just sell the lid separately. Any ideas? I have the lighted mirror versions 1999 996 convertible. I attached a photo

POST 2Original post

I had the same problem and was never able to find a lid to replace. I ended up repairing it using a thin rolled sheet of metal-type material. The repair lasted about a year but the lid cracked again in a different location. I am thinking for the price of two full visors I can buy a 3-d printer and try to design one. Then I can print them out every time I need one.

POST 3Original post

When my "flap" broke, I replaced the whole assembly with the european version that doesn't have the airbag warning label. Pop the broken assembly out of the visor, snip the wires, connect the new ones and pop it back in. Took me about 5 minutes.
