Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally sold my M3 so I'm now able to go forward with the 996 purchase. Of course the good ones in my budget have gone. :x Where do I find the list for the option codes(not the label on the car but what the numbers are for) Saw a 99' with 82k, noticed both door pins/locks were bubbling with rust(to be expected or?) no sticker under front bonnet, mismatching tyres, bit of condensation in oil cap(is this normal?) Which options do owners think are worth having and not? Also what colours should be avoided? :dont know: Any advise appreciated :thumb:

POST 2Original post

996 Option Codes on this link in the 996 FAQ http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=30179 and avoid this one.....

POST 4Original post

Don't worry about the rust near the door locks, this was a common problem with the early 996's (mine has the same thing). It's only surface corrosion and was fixed on later models with a plastic gasket i think. As for the oil condensation in the cap...i'd do as Sunny says and stay clear! I'd get yourself a buying guide; i highly recommend Peter Morgan's Ultimate Buying Guide. Has loads of tips etc in it. Taran :bandit:

POST 6Original post

PSE, but you can always add that later, so go for best condition/history you can find. Colours (inside and out) are personal taste but can affect how easy a car is to sell on in the future - but if you like it go for it.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
