Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I got my CS back from my dealier (Beverly Hills Porsche) yesterday, and all my rattle/chirp/clank noise problems are finally resolved. It took three visits spread out over three weeks, but I am very happy with the result. First visit - I informed the dealer that my trunk lid is off center (gap on left side is noticeably narrower), and also pointed out that there were noise problems. They kept the car overnight and realigned the trunk. When I picked it up they told me that there was a broken trim piece on my trunk lid (near the handle) causing some of the noises, and they'd let me know when the replacement trim piece arrives. Second visit - about a week and a half later I brought my car back to get the replacement trim piece. When I went back to pick it up later in the day, I was informed that I had more trim pieces in the trunk that needed replacement. This time it was the covers over the rear suspension. At this point I was a bit worried about my car. Third visit - the new parts arrived overnight, as opposed to the seven business days the dealer originally said it'd take. They kept my car overnight again for the repairs. The next day they called me to tell me that noise problems in my trunk are gone, but admitted that they haven't been able to fix the chirping noise on the passenger side of the car, so they would need the car one more day. It turned out this final noise problem was with the passenger side rear window, and was fixed when the dealer put extra silicone sealant around it. When I finally picked up my car and drove it home, I couldn't help smiling as much as I did the first time I drove my car home. All of the noise problems are actually gone. It really would have been impossible for me to diagnose and resolve all of the problems my dealer took care of, so I'm very appreciative of all the work they've done. I can honestly say that I enjoy driving my car more now than ever before.

Glad to hear the noises are gone and you are once again happy with your car.

POST 3Original post

I have driven my car for about 3500 miles and now I am ready to give it to the dealer for a few days to fix all the nagging problems you describe. I'll be making that call this week to drop off my car.

POST 4Original post

Side window replacememt Just picked up my car from having the driver side rear window replaced, because it was the source of the chirping noise. The window was a SOP from a previous visit. It was not such a good dealership experience! When I walked over to my car to have a look at the quality of workmanship, I noticed the seat belt trim pc was real nice and loose. So the service writer turns to look at the loaner (which is also a Cayman) for a quick reference. Mean while I'm wiping the silicone grease off of the rubber door seal and it just popped out of its track, exposing the source of the spackled grease behind it! He turns back and says I can pull it back into the shop and have him look into it. My comment was you've had the car for 5 days and you think the tech will get this right while I wait? So 30 min go by and he returns to say "ready, pending your approval" OMG I'm so not happy at this point! I walk out to see the same problem. So I just said we'll see how long it stays put this time, and took my jacked up car home. Once home..I Figured there is little to loose, and decided to disassemble everything that had been worked on by this idiot! Finding 1-broken clip, and 3-clips that were bent over and not holding anything in place. The rubber door seal has 2 tracks that have to be run up like a zipper into the side window, not caked in grease and smashed into place. This still bothers me that he just had no clue, yet he is a tech at a Porsche dealership..5 Days and two chances to get it figured out...what a joke! A word of wisdom to my fellow CC members don't assume that the dealers know anything that isn’t written down and spelled out in a service manual...!

Which Porsche dealer did you use? ul2fly, I to am chasing rattles and clunks. I noticed your location as DFW. Did you take your Cayman to Park Place? I purchased my car from them and am trying to sort these issues out myself. Like you; my dealer service experiences for this type of problem seem to cause more problems than they solve. Please let me know where you took your car, so I can at least avoid their poor service. Thanks
