Hi guys!
Been lurking around for a while, mostly to bide the time whilst wating for my Speedgelb
Boxster S
3.4 6MT to arrive from Finland.
Options are 19"
Carrera
Classic Wheels,
Sport Chrono
Pack,
PASM
, Sports Seats, 3 Spoke Sports Steering Wheel, Wind Deflector, Xenon Headlamps. No Sound Package Plus,
Bose
nor CD Changer.
Essentially a day after collection, the right speakers (tweeter on dash and speaker in door) started making a crackling and occasionally popping sound. The snap crackle and pop continues even though the headunit is switched off and also when the key is out of the ignition. It only goes off a few minutes after the key is removed when the whole car powers down.
Am at the Porsche dealer's workshop now, waiting while they change the headunit.
Did a quick search of this forum and managed to find another thread that had a similar problem to mine. And apparently it seems solved after an amplifier was changed.
Anyway, just to chime in and contribute to the knowledge base of the
Boxster
section!
Ok, back with the update. I know it's a little late and this sub forum is getting covered in cobwebs.
The dealer (Stuttgart Auto) swapped Becker headunits and I'm glad to report that the new one is working fine. Wasn't too surprised to find that the headunit is very light. They logged in a tech report of the problem and have sent it back to Germany.
So... Case closed!
Hey,
Since you didn't mention the
PCM
or navigation, I assume this was with a CDR-24 malfunctioning? Before your speaker crackling problem, did you ever have the issue with the unit dying or frequently showing STOP on the screen?
- Suneet
Hi Suneet,
Yup, I don't have
PCM
nor navigation, just the basic CDR-24 unit that comes when you don't tick any of the audio options.
The speaker problem came in at about 8 hours after collecting the car, and had worked fine up till that point. No "STOP" announciations whatsoever showing up on the dash display nor the display on the unit. It's been more than 2 months now with no problems.
