Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have approx 24,000 miles on my car and when i approach a light, my brakes squeek with a certain amount of pressure applied. If I push a bit harder it goes away but is not real comfortable. What is the solution here? Could I need new brakes already? I do not drive that hard and have no more wear and tear on them than normal I would say. I searched for past articles but came up with nothing. Drew

POST 2Original post

I'm experiencing the same exact thing- been squeaking since new. I only have ~2000 miles on it. Service dept. at my dealer blames it on "brake glaze" and said their fix is to drive the car around the block a couple times, brake hard , and that's supposed to fix it. They even recommended that I do it myself. I still don't think that's a proper fix for it. Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge can chime in...

POST 3Original post

I am no expert on the subject. ExecDrew at 24,000 I would visually inspect the brakes first. I changed brakes much sooner, but I have tracked the car. I use Pagid orange pads and my breaks squeek, but I expected that. My brakes did not squeek with oem pads. Phaheem what they told you sounds reasonable. Pads should be beaded. Oem pads are easy to bead, and what your dealer recommends is reasonable. ExecDrew I would not go and bead your pads without a visual inspection first. If you still have a reasonable amount of pad, go ahead and bead them. If you need to replace your pads do not forget the backing plates, they help with break squeeks.

POST 5Original post

i had this problem and dealer never found out real cause until brakes were fully inspected. turns out anti-vibration/shim was missing from rear brakes since it came out of factory. it took a whole 7 months to diagnose this simple and cheap fix. no squeak since.
