Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I am planning on performing the IMS upgrade and by the way change the clutch. I would like an opinion on staying on the OEM clutch or make an upgrade to a stage 2 clutch. With the recommendation please let me know which clutch brand do you recommend, Thanks in advance for the advice.

POST 2Original post

I went with genuine Porsche. Unless you're upping the power or racing I don't see any reason to change what they determined was the best fit - but others may have varying opinions based on experiences. Many years ago I went with an ACT street/strip clutch and pressure plate combo in my RX-7... the heavier duty pressure plate made the clutch pedal much harder to push and became uncomfortable when driving in heavy traffic.

POST 4Original post

EPS upgraded clutch is what I have and it works wonderfully well and has extended life. Feels like the stock clutch.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the advice given.

POST 6Original post

I had the full "alphabet" done on my '99 about a year ago at 86K miles. The new clutch was a SACHS, the oem supplier to Porsche. FWIW, carefully examine the DMF. If any doubts about possible wear, replace it, too. (I had a LUK unit installed, another oem supplier.) The car now drives/shifts like new!

POST 7Original post

Yes, what relinuca said. Same thing for me at 84K miles last year. All OEM parts, including the DMF. My thinking was since it was cracked open, the DMF was a no brainer.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
