Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm hunting around for a 996 to buy and there seems to be quite a few with GT3 look kits fitted. The big rear spoiler is not my thing really. The bumpers and skirts look ok though. Is it an easy enough job to remove the aero spoiler? Does the original powered spoiler stay in place with the GT3 kit or is it removed and is it easy enough to refit? Cheers

POST 2Original post

Not sure about the GT3 spoiler but the aero spoiler is a direct replacement for the pop-up spoiler. I still have a pop-up lid and motor mechanism if you are interested. TB

POST 3Original post

I thought the same as you when I was looking for mine and also made enquires about removing and swapping the rear spoiler. Apparently they are a very sought after item if you do remove it and plenty of places will do it for you. When I eventually found the car I currently own it had a GT3 bodykit and I thought about replacing it straight away. However, after speaking to a few people and knowing that it was a factory fit option as oppose to an aftermarket addition, I decided to live with the car for a few months and see how it went. Now I couldn't imagine I had ever thought about replacing the rear spoiler and really glad I didn't. Guess its your choice at end of the day but do give it some thought as you may regret it .. Funny, round the Yorkshire area I've seen very few 996 Carrera 2's with the GT3 body kit which, is another reason why I like it as in my opinion it is a little more unique.

POST 4Original post

I was looking into adding the GT3 kit to my C2, was wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea to cost, i have heard some stories about aftermarket kits not being all that good and difficult to fit....even had one guy tell me that his had split.....any feedback appreciated
