guys, apparently i have the same problem, i got 300 miles on it, and i have it, went to the dealer and i was told that it was the sound coming from the air filter box.

So yesterday driving to work, get onto freeway and accelerate to 70 mph and then let off the gas pedal. Noticed a rather loud whine whistle coming from rear of car. Sounds like coming from the rear differential. Car accelerates and drives fine but this rear whining is extremely annoying on the new car with 3900 miles. Very noticeable 50 to 80 mph when take foot off of gas pedal. Just started doing it yesterday, what could it be??

I had what sounds like the same issue. Took it in to the dealer. They noise tested it and said it was fine. Funny thing, it happened at about the same mileage as for you, but since then it has gone away. Still, better safe than sorry: take it to the dealer and make sure they document your concern... down the road if it turns out to be something major it will be probably be covered.

update Ive driven the car another 100 miles and its still doing the whine whistle sound. Have appointment to drop off car at dealership on tuesday and have them fix whatever this annoying failure must be. Im guessing a constant velocity joint in the rear or possibly a rear differential failure of some kind. Noise comes when letting off the gas pedal and the obivous change of back pressure in those back bearings or gears. Hopefully will be fixed soon. Will update again with details.
