Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just bought a set of Sebro discs for a disc replacement sometime over the summer and have a few questions... Firstly, after much searching I gathered that Sebro were OEM with out the 996 part numbers just like Textar are for pads. However unlike the pads the Sebro disc hats look nothing like the Porsche originals. They are more angled with a grey paint where as the originals are silver :?: Is there a definitive answer to who is actually OEM? Next, anyone experienced sensor melt down? My sensors are screwed after 1 track day. The plastic end containing the sensor wires has melted and spilled over the pad. No problem as I've checked everything and just removed melted junk but is this normal? And finally, vane direction on the front discs. I noticed that the vane direction runs away from direction of forward rotation. I would have thought to get maximum cooling you'd angle the vanes into the direction of rotation to 'scoop' up cool air. Or maybe it's angled that way to 'vent' air? You can see the angle from the cross drilled holes in the 996 picture... However looking at the 997 ceramic brakes the vane angle is into the direction of rotation, why the change?

POST 2Original post

Yes, your front disks are on the wrong sides (edit - if they are the same as in the picture). It would probably make them run a bit hotter. edit 2 - are you sure the ones on your car are 'genuine Porsche'? I too thought Sebro were manufacturers of Porsche disks. They certainly work as well.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My discs are the same as in the pic and your diagram, ie the vanes rotate away from rotational direction, weird? They are definitely original Porsche too as they have the part number and minimum thickness stamped on the hat. Even the picture shows the 'L' on the disc showing the rotation for a front left disc... :dont know:

POST 4Original post

Aaah - the penny dropped - I see what you mean. Very odd that the ceramics go on the opposite hand. I looked at the workshop manual, but it doesn't have the same diagram for the 997 ceramics. The 996TT/GT2 manual shows them the same way round as steel disks. Are you sure that the disks are fitted correctly in that picture above?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's the press release photos for the 997GT3 Mk2, would have thought they would get it right :?

POST 6Original post

PCCB should be considered as different tech and the rules are a bit different to regular steel the placement of the brake calliper at the back of the disc rather than the front which IIRC has a reason to do with the disc cooling arrangement On the disc colour, the lighter brushed effect on the OEM is added by Porsche to plain steel effect

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I understand that but are they (Porsche) then saying that maximum cooling is by vanes the other way around to the 996 or that PCCB are so good that they don't need cooling so we'll stick the vanes on backwards? That's how they are on the 996 fronts too.
