Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am toying with the idea of picking up a 2002 996 Cab. My worry is will it fit in to a UK standard gagrage. WOW they are slim. Does anyone know what width the car is from mirror to mirror? Or widest point to widest point? I have researched on the ent and have 70 inches but not sure this includes mirror width. As ever any help would be much appreciated as knocking out the center piller and adding a double door is liekly to be the nail in this ideas coffin with the good lady wife.

POST 2Original post

I had a 996 C2 Cab (2004) for 3.5 years and I also have a standard new build garage (house is 10 years)........ The 911 is an easy fit, honestly, once you get used to it - plenty of room to get in/out. Now, my Aston on the other hand which was significantly wider than the 911 was a work of technical precision My garage is only 8'1" BTW. If you have any doubts, ask the seller to let you drive (with them) to your garage to check it fits (assuming that's relatively local :? ....both Aston and Lambo did this for me in Decmeber.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have just short of 7ft in width on the G door. Is the boxster the same width? I can borrow me mates and see if that fits. This is the final objection from the good lady, so get past this and I am home n dry!

POST 4Original post

I think I have 7'1" at the door (using my best measurements) and mine was fine.

POST 5Original post

I think its 6' 4'' mirror to mirror on a 996 C2, so narrow by modern standards. 70 inches (5' 10") is the body width (1770mm)

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do the mirrors fold on a 996? That would give me that buit more confidence. Once in then I just kncok the middle wall out and put a double G on....this is all to appease the missus. Mention more expense and it will get knocked on the head. Cheers all.

POST 7Original post

My 996 is 6' 4" (1930 mm) mirror to mirror, they do fold in but have no idea how much space you save :dont know:

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It will be very close, but I reckon it's a go. Will let you all know when and what I get.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
