I have been using the Durametric system to workout the flat stop on my 996 which has turned out to be air mass for sure, strange how I had 6 TC's but the EML had not lit up?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Maybe a question for Richard H? I have been using the Durametric system to workout the flat stop on my 996 which has turned out to be air mass for sure, strange how I had 6 TC's but the EML had not lit up? I ran a test on the EML and it checked out fine... odd one. Anyway, while I was browsing E-prom addresses I seached for the mileage but Porsche store this information as hours. Does anyone know the conversion formula to miles? I thought logically miles divided by hours = average mph which works out at 14.6 but I am told it is more complex than that??? Also, the car came from London, one owner who used it for only two years then stored it in a barn for 5 years! The hours of use is 1366, the current ODO is 19958 miles, the car was started but not driven at regular intervals over the 5 years of storing to keep the engine in order (so he says) If it does work out at 14.6 does that sound right for London Central? I am Birmingham south, the AVMPH here is 21 on urban commutes.

POST 2Original post

Sounds right to me. How else would you work out average MPH without having other data. :dont know: 14.6 MPH in London...sounds likely I suppose..

POST 3Original post

I normally work on 25-30mph average, so 14.6 is very low, to the point of being suspicious IMHO. Maybe a London car would be lower, but not that much I would have thought. Of course, a feasible explanation might be that the DME has been changed at some point, which would start timing from zero. On later DME's (definitely 7.8/possibly 7.2) the mileage is also stored in the DME vehicle data in km. You can't read it with the Durametric, but you can with a PST2 or PIWIS. Edit: Total distance is only available in the Vehicle data for cars with DME 7.8 (3.6 facelift models).
