Short term just lower the window before you shut the car - and then use the total closure on the keyfob to put the window up and set the alarm.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You should see mine if not!! I can't close the drivers door on my 996 cab. The window drops when you open the door but imediately raises again before you can close it, this means the window is to high and smashes on the roof making a nasty noise and leaves the door open. Any ideas on solving without a bill of a grand???? Thanks for any help. If I don't get any I think I might chop a bit of the window off which should solve the problem.

POST 2Original post

I think your problem is likely to be one of the microswitches in the door lock assembly. You have to change the whole lock assembly as these switches aren't servicable. Not hugely expensive at about £90. Best bet would be to get a diagnostic check done first to confirm it. The Porsche tester can read the position of each switch so you can see if it is working or not.

POST 3Original post

Short term just lower the window before you shut the car - and then use the total closure on the keyfob to put the window up and set the alarm. Do cabs have the total closure feature if you hold down the lock button I guess they do? But obviously Richard's fix is better!!

POST 4Original post

I had exactly this problem, which turned out to be the microswitch on the latch mechanism. I stripped it out, and found the microswitch to be a standard item. Theres plenty on Ebay, just search for microswitch. Total cost was about a pound! Its easy to replace, and is within reach if you know how to use a soldering iron, and have a basic set of tools. Alternatively give it to a dealer and get ripped off
