Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The other day a deer jumped out infront of me, nothing i could do to avoid it. So now I need a new bumper and rhs radiator, anyone got any good places to get new or used parts? Ideally collection in the cotswold area...but post is fine. Annoyingly i had just wd40'd the suspension, and the creek seemed to have gone, think its back now too :-| Many thanks for any assistance. cheers Oli

POST 2Original post

Sorry to hear that ... Will be an expesnive repair (including respraying) Have a loot at http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/porsche_996_body_panels.html That will give you some idea what cost you are talking about... Theo

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers for the reply, Yeah it was totally unexpected really, just bounded out of a bush straight infront of me, not really anywhere to go, and the brakes didnt stop me enuff for it to clear the bumper. There is of course some plastics missing, the repeater, and indicator cover, and i think a couple of smaller brackets. Bit of a mess, seems to drive fine otherwise. I cant see it being cheaper to claim on insurance overall as my no claims arent protected. I've spoken to Porsche who aren't much different to porsche shop, design911 seem quite reasonable, tho vat isnt included in their prices. My local bodyshop seem to think that a used one would do after its resprayed, any opinions on this? thanks guys.

POST 4Original post

Hard luck chap, have clipped a Monkjack in a different car and escaped with just a hoof through the indicator. Happened at night and literally jumped over the hedge at full pelt...I thought it was a flying reindeer at first!! Little comfort but it could have been much much worse and sounds as if you were unharmed? Best bet if you're looking for a cheap fix (are you doing yourself?). Conatcyt PorschApart, they should have loads of bumpers on the shelf, may eve have your colour :thumb: For the rad though I'd get new, I believe on the 996 these are quite commonly replaced anyway and the last thing you need is a water-cooling problem.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lol, a flying reindeer isnt really what you expect is it! Always a shock. Yeah I was totally unharmed, didnt really even feel much of the impact through the car, I think the guy in the van behind was more shocked than me! The deer also was thrown into the ditch, so i didnt have to move a horrid mess from the road, which was also a relief. Someones kindly contacted me about a bumper, so that's one problem solved. I'll take your advice and just buy a new radiator. Found a few for around £130 which seems ok. Then its just plastic time Least its got me back onto the motorbike, not going fast down that road tho, first time a Fireblade has held up cars on a long straight Cheers all.
