For what it is worth, Car Magazine (UK/pretty solid) has a new review that is available in the DEC15 print edition for the 991.2 turbo.
Expect the groaning of P-Car moving from NA engines and it losing a little character from the previous iteration but in all they loved it and said it was just growing up.
Obviously several mechanical differences but it sounds like Porsche knows the direction it is going with the their engines and FI motors. Still just have to wait until 718 is tested but posting again, for what it is worth. Aside from, hopefully it is indications of the Cayman/Boxster moving in the right direction with their new turbo powerplants.
Also, review was done by Georg Kacher who does most of their P-car reviews, hence consistency, and he was asked to come along on the recent Canadian winter test session of the 718 Boxster.
*****BEGIN TEXT*****
To call the 2016 911 a mid-life facelift is like saying gender-swapping boxing promoter Frank Maloney popped in for a nip/tuck. In exchanging its legendary naturally aspirated flat-six for twin-turbo power Porsche has subjected its most precious asset to life-changing surgery. Life-changing is one thing, life-threatening quite another. This is our first chance to check the 911’s post-op pulse.
Our canary yellow test car is a Carrera S with an exclamation mark. Make that two exclamation marks. It runs on the widest available rims, 20-inchers shod with 245/35 rubber in the front and with even lower section 305/30 Pirelli P Zero tyres in the back. Also on board are carbon ceramic brakes, rear-wheel steering together with active anti-roll bars, extra-loud dual-mode exhaust, double-clutch PDK transmission and the game-console-inspired Sport Chrono pack. Seating is via one-size-fits-some racing buckets which grab you by the hip and by the shoulder like a professional wrestler. I snap the banana yellow belt into its buckle, select Normal on the drive mode selector and fire up the engine, the sound of which could make or break this car. The five round dials and the small touchscreen monitor spring to life. We’re ready to go. ...

Will post link when it is available online.
Rather interesting early drive experience with the 718:

It sounds like the 991.2 is faster, more comfortable and less raw, which could be said just about anytime there's a new Porsche iteration, for better or worse.
Two things
1. Please post reviews of cars in the appropriate subforum. 911 reviews go in the 911 subforum
2. A reminder of the rules
Due to copyright issues, please do not quote entire news articles from other sources; small excerpts and/or a link keeps things legal
Do not copy entire articles and their photographs into the photos unless you own the copyright.
thank you
Awesome. Read that a few weeks back. Great stuff and hope the positive trend continues!
I'll PM KMan and see if we can get the thread changed as a permanent fixed thread for 718 related articles and others that might be of interest.
My apologies. I'll take it down.
1. Glad I got to read the full review posted by the OP, in the couple of hours it was visible before chow (not surprisingly) chopped it out.
2. Instead of a 991.2 turbo lite I am holding out for a 2017 911 R
2017 Porsche 911 R - first spy pictures | Autocrat
. THAT sounds like it will be the ultimate drivers car.
3. Number 2 assumes I win tonight's Powerball jackpot (I had my wife buy ten tickets today).
Even if you had the money, it is my understanding that the 911 R will have significant few available and that all are already taken. Only way to buy it is to find someone who is willing to sell you a "used" one with a huge markup.
