If yours reads 30,000km less, perhaps the instrument cluster has been changed for a second hand one with higher mileage, and hasn't been 'corrected'.

Hi - does anyone know of any reason why the DME mileage would read different ( lower) than the speedo mileage?

DME is reading 30,000 km lower - this was noted when i was trying to diagnose an engine problem

Normally its the other way round where someone has clocked the car and is turning the dash reading back. Could it be the DME was replaced or the dash is faulty?Sorry, only guessing as no experience on the matter.

The DME will usually read around 5% lower than the instrument cluster, because the speedo always over-reads. If yours reads 30,000km less, perhaps the instrument cluster has been changed for a second hand one with higher mileage, and hasn't been 'corrected'. Alternatively, and more likely I guess, is that the DME has been changed, and it was not possible to read/write data from the old DME to the new one.
